Look at all of the oil in western Canada. There is more than enough to supply our country. But where does it go? Into a pipe that leads in the opposite direction.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I don't necessarily want to start or not start anything however for what it is worth. Steve Jobs the CEO of Apple took a $1 a year with no bonus Salary and has maintained that salarysince he returned to the company in 1997. Therefoe in the past 9 years. Steve Jobs has virtually donated his time to Apple COmputer corporation and earned $1 a year from Apple Computer Corporation. For those of you who beleive it is impossible to do a job without resonable compensation....

Here it is. It is possible. Now for my opinion, something I have learned from the internation employees of CP.

The american Corporation set up is based on American greed. Plain and simple. You can have Joe Schmoe Scientific Genius, being paid crap, while his scientific utterly stupid supervisor is paid roughly 25 cents more an hour or $500 a year salary just because he is a supervisor. That supervisor suddenly beleives he or she needs to act appropriatly and be the boss just to earn laundry money.

Flame all you want I won't budge a bit so just save your fingers the excercise. Your american you can be lazy and drive your car to your next door neighbors just to complain about me. Now just a little CP international wisdom. Honestly most internationals at CP still think the pay is crap. They do get a lot more compared to what they receive in their country for the same job, but they see the relational set up in the american economy.

I previously read in this thread

I don't think the executive's salary is way off base. From what I understand if they are making more than 20 times their lowest paid employee, then that's where it starts to get out of line.

Actually, lets take the base pay at Cedar Point (from cedarpoint.com)
$6.25 + seasonal bonus $1 = $7.25
Lets work them the maximum hours 80 * $7.25 = $580

Lets go with all 31 day months $580 * 4.3 = $2494

6 Months (CP Season) $2494 * 6 = $14964

$14,964 is roughly the maximum pay a a seasonal employee could get.

Now lets get 20 times that much... 14964 * 20 =$299,280

CF listed two employees making more than 20 times thier lowest paid employees maximum possible pay.... A Dick and a John. The seasonal base of employees is not just college kids. There are a ton of people trying to raise familys. Granted they have a choice to not work at CP. But for whatever reason. it flows in their blood to work at CP. Their have been a lot a people on this board who have posted how a job at Cedar POint flows in your blood, only to say those people need to find new jobs. If you like your job stay, don't let american corporate idiocism push you around.

Flame away I don't care. I'm staying to this like brick and mortar.

Don't be naive. Jobs has $532 million in restricted Apple stock. Just because he didn't get it this year doesn't mean he doesn't have performance goals to meet. He has to vest and succeed to cash in those shares. He's not donating his time. If he fails, he doesn't get jack. His real compensation is hundreds of times what Kinzel gets. Apple is a $54 billion company, compared to Cedar Fair at $1.5 billion.

Get over it already. Seasonals get paid what they're worth for the kind of labor they have to perform. If they have to raise a family, why the hell would they take a seasonal job that requires zero skill?

You know, I get that people are pissed off at executives like those from Enron or whatever, but these are people that worked their asses off for decades to achieve the highest level of the American dream. While our society is far from perfect, and some people can be disadvantaged for socioeconomic reasons, these are people that have earned their place in the world.

Furthermore, it's a load of crap for you to question their motivation or their philanthropic contributions to their community. I know some of these people, and beyond their roles as leaders in a public company, they're also good citizens in their community.

If you think it's unfair that someone else earns a six-figure salary, do what you have to do so you can do the same.

From the very start, America was developed to allow anyone who works hard can do anything they wish. If you wish to be a drunk and live on the streets, you must drop out of high school and stay away from those job things. If you wish to be rich, well then you must work very hard, because there's a lot of competition since basically everyone wants to be rich. If there's anyone who deserves a big paycheck is a person who is doing a good job. CF is in the best shape out of all the other amusement park chains.

I don't think the GP have noticed the poor operations yet. Until they start running one train on all the rides and take 2-3 minutes per dispatch, the average person won't think twice. I'll never say and I've yet to hear any person I know say it was a waste of $39.95 (or whatever the price is). If I waited 2 hours for MF a few years ago. An extra 5-15 minutes isn't going to make me or anyone else leave the park. If some of you say employees aren't very friendly, then I don't really know what you're talking about. I've ran into a few people who just look as if they're having a bad day (we all have them), but overall, the service has always exceeded every where else I ever go.
