Official Testing Thread

Yeah, they added those yellow stripes to the supports today.

As for the tarp, earlier it look like they were working on landscaping in the area; it might have something to do with that.

My guess is that they're expecting rain and want to landscape in dry soil.

Sandusky is expecting rain... 70% chance overnight...

Not only is Walt the webmaster supreme...

Hes also quite the meteorologist...

One should always know what the conditions are around them. Walt is just smart, not a meteroligist.

Uhh, I do believe Walt was a Meteorology major in College. :) Even if it was at PSU ;)

I believe Walt also worked in landscaping at CP for a while.

Yes, I have a degree in meteorology (unlike most of the "experts" on television). And, yes, it is from Penn State, the greatest university in the world. I also worked as a landscaper at the park for six seasons. And we did, on occasion, put a tarp out if we thought it might rain and we knew we needed to get something planted.

I'm not saying that's what it is for sure, but it certainly looks like it.

For fun, here's a time lapse from today.

Penn State, the greatest university in the world.

Darn subjective language. ;)

Cool time lapse, though!

Very cool time lapse, keep up the good work!

Has anyone seen any damn rides test other than skyhawk and power tower. The park opens in less than two weeks.

Corkscrew got mentioned, also I saw Raptor Testing(it was just a blur though...)

OMG they're not ready. Seriously though, all the rides are testing or are going to test very soon. There's no point in posting each finding.

Well, the truth is there's no one to run every ride because they pushed the process in dates of a lot of ride operations people back due to budget cuts. So the ones that are running are probably being run by maintenence (or the few ops people that have been there cleaning bathrooms) when in years past almost every ride would have been turned over to operations by now.

Judging by the pic I saw of Magnum with a train still on the back part of the transfer track (they actually have to winch it forward from there), it's reasonable to assume it hasn't run yet (or for certain, all three trains have not been run yet).

So I'm inclined to think they are VERY behind where they'd typically be. And having been in the park during past years one week before opening day, I can say that it seems like a miracle that they pulled it off fairly well those years. I don't know how they're going to do it this year. We'll just see how well they pull things together for opening day.

As much as I hate to admit it, much of what I've heard is the same as what MDOmnis mentioned. They are apparently "behind;" at least a little bit. Those employees that have not had their process in dates moved back, have processed in, but are doing more odd-jobs than they are actually testing their rides. It's a sad fact to face compared to previous years... but let's just hope they can pull it together.

Looks like they're laying sod in the area in question from yesterday.

Im sure CP knows what they are doing. They will have everything ready for openingf day like they have every other year.
