Okay, I had enough of this rumor!

I went into work today, and everyone knows I am a big coaster fan, so the first person said to me "You know they are tearing down Magnum, dont you?" And I went on to tell them they need to see a shrink cause they must be crazy!! So after that ordeal, everyone at work ganged up on me saying that it was true!! Where do these people get this stuff?? Maybe someone can help me out, I need some good amuntition (sp?) to throw at them!!

When I tell people about my love for Magnum and how often I ride it. someone brings up a rumor about the ride. I just laugh it off. Then I just start to use Dave Althoff termonolgy and then they shut up.

One of my friends also said that yesterday. Except he said "Magnum is going to be torn down to make room for Millennium Force" I drew him a map and everything and he still didnt believe me. So on Monday i have to bring him a picture that shows where Millennium Force is.
This winter, someone told me the MAGNUM sinking rumor and said CP sold it to PKI- they were adding a loop and calling it Son of Beast. Lol. ;)

I believe the "Magnum is sinking" rumor (and its related cousins) are addressed in Cedar Point's FAQ on their official web page. --Dave Althoff, Jr.
on the Cedar Point web site, it says magnum is not sinking,a nd it says they are not getting rid of it.

I know what you mean. I went to school the other day and someone else brought up Millennium Force for a change. He was saying how it's the "new" Magnum and that it had been sold to Japan. Of course, i tried to tell him it was a rumor but this dang thing is so strong that more people know about it than the truth. They even wen't into technical specifics about how it was sinking, the problem, and how the ride's effected by it.

Maybe we can get Jenn to stray from the employee forum again and claim responsibility? ;)

I have a friend who is going to work for CP this year on Snake River and told me that she was sad that they are getting rid of Magnum...So I gave her a little pop quiz on things NOT to say. That was on top of the list followed close by "No ones face got ripped off of Power Tower"

Can you believe it? My employer expects me to work during the day! The nerve of these people, cutting into my surfing time! And then there's my wife, always wanting attention, or something done around the house. Geez! :-)

Wasnt this sinking Magum rumor started by a newspaper for an April's Fools joke? Thats what I have heard.

Ironically enough, someone brought this exact topic up as I was eating lunch today. He said they were tearing Magnum down because it was settling. I nearly jumped across the table to strangle him. I told him that we were talking about how sick of hearing these proposterous(sp) rumors. That shut him up and he started talking about other roller coaster at the point.

Jeff... How many times do I have to explain this???? I just happened to "stray from the employee page" tonight :) Magnum is NOT sinking.. it was not done as an April Fools day joke.. it was done by two managers (umm.. me being one) who wrote a joke artical for the employee newsletter. Magnum was the least ridiculous of all the things mentioned in this joke article..other things were Disaster Transport being sold to Gorky Park in Russia, The Cedars dorm being rebuilt in a cave underground... Employees believed the article! Even worse... EVERYONE ELSE BELIEVED IT TOO! Didn't anyone read the loooonnnng explanation Erik and I gave for that rumor in the CP Rumors thread? MAGNUM IS NOT SINKING! Erik.. I think we are going to pay for this forever. Jeff.. if you would like, I can send you the article.. Do you have a scanner? You could maybe help put this to bed once and for all!

Thank you for the clarification on how this rumor got started. I knew it was a joke in some sort of a fashion, but the point I was making is that I never believed it was sinking! And that the employees at my work will not let it die!!!!! But thanks to you and jeff for pointing out to me the link it was clarified in, I have printed this and I am sticking it in the break room!! Maybe they will never eveeeeeeeeer open there mouth about this again! Thank you for giving me some proof to shove down there throats, LOL!!
