Old Gemini Station Set up/entrance

I faintly remember on my first trip to the park in 2003 going into the Gemini line and getting to a fork in the queue where you would choose either "front of train" or "back of train" and the queue would branch each way. When I rode Gemini Monday I could see at the opposite end of the station there is still a ramp where the "front of train" riders would go. When did they stop this?

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I've always wondered this also, as I can remember going in the front of train line also.

Thrills Around the Corner!

I don't remember exactly which season they did that on Gemini. -- I'm thinking I noticed it a few seasons back (not too long ago though). Does anyone remember when they changed the fork in the queue?

The reason they put the second line into the station was to increase the capacity of the ride. The one ended line became a bottleneck and made it difficult to fill both trains under 6 train operation.

More recently, gates were added and 6 train operation has ended. The extra capacity to the station is no longer needed.

well from when gemini was built it was always a 2 line entrance into the station, it split just before the queues and one queue was for the red side, the side that went to the front of the trains and the other for the blue. but the queues were never used because with a 6 train operation, and i miss that, there was never a line. when i worked at cp in 87 at thunder canyon with 22 raft operation we use to try to beat geminis capacity, came close on hot days but never did it.

They don't use that other ramp anymore on crowded days? I swear it was open not to long ago. Maybe 2004/2005.

^I thought they still used it on crowded days as well. I am pretty sure when I went to CP during the 2005 season with some friends that the other ramp was in use. Though I could be mistaken.

Ohh maybe they do. I try to avoid the park during peak season.

Gemini began running only 4 trains in 2004. I'm not sure if the closing of the fork occurred exactly when that happened, but probably close.

Last year the closed the fork in the queue before last season.

Well, here's a novel idea...if you are not going to use something anymore, maybe you can clean it up. I've noticed this as well, but I always assumed they use it on busier days. It was always nice as a guest to be able to choose front or back. I don't recall seeing any bottleneck problems. How does going to 4 train operation effect this? Now it's just more difficult to work your way through the crowds on a busy day if you want to go to the front.

But then again, this is the same park that still can't find the time to finish putting away the Pirate Ride.

When they had six train operation they couldn't get people in the station fast enough with only one entrance.

If I recall correctly, Gemini opened with only the front entrance to the station. They found they needed to get people into the station faster, so in the off season they built the back entrance. You can see that it was added later by the way the concrete was obviously cut at the edge of the station.

Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.

Why don't they have the other trains sit on the other tracks by the ones where we ride the Gemini. So they don't have to use the same trains everyday of the yr?

- Also, what ever happend to the banners that once hung inside the station?

Mr. Cedar Point,

Like Mantis, they put one train (in this case two different colors) in storage for a year. Next year they'll put a different one in storage. Less maintenance is the only reason I can guess as to why they do this.

You can see the two extra trains when you are riding Mean Streak. They are behind a shed in the middle of the ride. It looks like there are extra Chaos cars there too (maybe from Michigan Adventure?)

You need to go back a few more years. The first year I went to CP, 1980, an hour long line for Gemini was not unusual and that on a weekday (I worked weekends so Tuesday was my normal day at CP).

I thought there were only the extra trains that were on the transfer tracks from when they used to run 6 trains.

So are there 6 or 8?

Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.
