Out of this world Subway prices

I expect to pay more at an entertainment venue, however when they cross the line to gouging they can keep their food. I'm not buying. There is a point were they are playing us for fools. That's OK because there will always be those that will pay the price. I don't understand those that defend the high prices.

I was at our local subway last night. We bought 2 footlongs, 2 chips and two drinks and paid just over $15 including tax to eat in. That money would get me one foot long at that air conditioned Soak City Subway.

What it boils down to is if people keep paying the price they will keep charging the price. Resist and find a less expensive option, they do exist at Cedar Point. The $5 hot dog, chips and pop deal or $2.50 taco at Los Gatos are examples.

" Kennywood is a much smaller park. Kennywood has much lower atendance. Kennywood gets a big ride every 10 years. They are anouncing it today. Cedar Point is alot bigger, has 3 times the staff, and Cedar fair has some debt. If these prices help bring a new attraction and pay for the electricity, staff, etc. charge $13 for a sub. It would probaly be cheaper but the subway franchise gets a bite of each sub they sell."

All subway chains have to give the franchise a portion of the profits. Not just the one's in cedarpoint. You don't see them charging $13 for a sub.

I knew you were going to try and pull the "well kennywood is a much smaller park argument" out of your pocket. That's why I also mentiond busch gardens and Disney. They are the same size and bigger than cp, yet the food and drink prices are much lower and the quality is also better. And the last time I checked, Disney and busch are not in any major debt like cedafair is.

And they will continue to be in debt, because people are not going to be spending as much in the park.

Yes Busch Gardens food in the Festhouse is much better than all of CP, and it doesn't cost as much ether.

Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"

Why should the size of the park or quality of the rides enter into what a park charges for food? Those factors are accounted for in the price of admission. Therefore, Cedar Point is justified in charging a higher admission than Kennywood. The price of let's say a Pepsi should not be that different between the two parks. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Cedar Point pays less for it's Pepsi due to the fact they are bigger and sell more.

I went to the park Sunday Aug 9, for my first visit since 2005. I was not planning to spend much money in the park as prices are so high. I went into the Chippery, as I wanted to try home made chips. There was a sign that said 2.89 for a small bag, and 5.89 for a large bag. I grabbed a small bag, and went to pay. I was told it would be 5.89. I walked out. Still haven't had any home made chips. My total in park spending was $10.

Diane

That was a large bag. The small bags are only available at the counter were the big bowls of chips are. They fill them for you right there. They have prepackaged big bags, which really aren't that big so, I understand you thinking it was the other size.

Which is exactly what makes the CP pricing even more ridiculous. Kennywood can't reach the economy of scale that CP can, so the same item will cost them more than it would at CP, and yet they still price lower.

I haven't eaten at Subway in Cedar Point, so I can't compare for sure, but when I went to Hershey Park a few weeks ago, I spent about $11.00 for a six inch turkey breast sub, chips, and a drink. They didn't offer 12 inch subs there and they didn't have as many choices as a regular subway store. What I do know was more expensive at Hershey was a day's admission at about $55.00.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

I gotta laff.

There was just a commercial on tv that was all about a $2, six inch sub at subway.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Yup, they are selling 2 dollar subs in Michigan.. just got one yesterday in Taylor for the meatball or lunchmeat one only.. those are the only ones that are 2 dollars for a 6 inch. Makes me want to buy some in advance, go to CP and eat in the parking lot when I'm hungry.

Make sure you wave to me whan your in the parking lot, because that is where I eat my lunch as well.

Last I visited the park in July, I walked past the subway on the midway on my way out to the car to eat and it was Noon and there was only 3 people in line.... I think the prices are finally getting out and CP will have to do something about it. Is the Johnny Rockets even that overpriced?

Ryan / A Buckeye stuck in Michigan

Johnny Rockets burgers run in the $7 to $8 range. Fries or anything else is extra. I think pop is $3.50 or more. Shakes are in the $5 range. Fries and onion rings aren't too high, I don't remember exactly. Overall about $14-$15 for burger, fries and drink. Don't forget to add a tip to that.

We ate there about a month ago and our fries had black shoot like specs on them and smelled and tasted like a burned out building. We asked for new fries. The waitress came back a couple minutes later and said it would be a half hour for new ones, they are changing the oil in the fryers. Changing oil at 5:30 on a Saturday. Peak dining hour, I doubt it. We told her to take them off our bill and forget the new fries. Meanwhile I'm watching servers bringing fries to other tables. I guess they didn't want to replace our fries. I asked the manager and he just gave me the same BS. I only went in there because the family wanted to. I'd alway felt they were overpriced and try to avoid JR and the Point. Now the family won't go back because of the fry incident.

I won't be going back to CP until Halloweekends. My bf's hours were cut at work and we just bought a house back in November.. so priorities first right now :(

Ok, so what does everyone think? Will they go down this year? I'm sure they got many complaints.

Also, did I notice a new Subway last year by the Challenge Park??

BTW, in case anyone is curious here are some pics of the prices from last year:

Yes a Subway was put into Challenge Park, the small Arcade with concession by the restrooms was removed and replaced with a sit down Subway.

So I've been a member of Pointbuzz for a while, but haven't been on in a long time. I was over at thepointol.com and it was dumb and the mods think they have such great power over their members, so I think this place would be a better place.

Good thing I switched over to here because this is the first topic I saw and I always felt the price of subway was ridiculous! $5 footlong subs at Cedar Point? I don't think so. Try around $10 just for a 6inch sub NOT including the rest of the meal.

That's why I usually stop at the subway at the intersection of Rye Beach Rd and Cleveland Rd (caddy corner from Hy-Miler) and put it in my cooler and come out to the car to eat. If I'm going to pay $10 for parking, $46 for admission (I have a season pass, I'm just going off of what the average guest would pay), and tolls on the Turnpike, I'm not going to want to spend $10 for a mediocre subway sub
