It does look funny but if the intent is for the ride op to "scan" the area of track to ensure that people arent in restricted areas then its actually pretty sad because it doesnt look as if they are doing a good job. I would venture a guess its in response to accidents/close calls that Six Flags has had with people entering restricted areas.

When I was at Great Adventure, a ride op in controls at Superman turned all the way around and "visual scanned" the parking lot behind her. You know, just in case there was a high speed chase in the parking lot heading straight for the ride area...haha.

The visual scan just shows how much of a joke six flags is ;).

I wonder over a course of a day, how many less Riders per hour there is. That's gotta slow down the boarding and the wait times over the course of the day
