Passholder ride night questions

shamrockcb's avatar

Has anyone been to a steel vengeance ride night this year? If memory serves me correctly it may have been rained out? I’m just wondering what to expect... one ride during that hour, maybe a few? Thanks for any tips you can offer- never stayed late for rides except for the campout one year.

First ride night, it was still one train operation, unless you were close to the front and were one of the first riders, most people only managed one ride.

Second ride night rained out.

This coming Tuesday looks to have very fair weather so I expect a sizable amount of Platinum Passholders to show. I'm guessing this time as long as you line up before it starts, whether at back or front, you should be able to get 2 rides in, maybe 3 if you make first few trains.

Lined up at 950- been in line since and haven’t moved :( about to walk out and it’s the main reason we came today. My son is laying on the ground and I can’t foresee moving anytime soon :( coaster is running so I have no idea what’s up

From what I am hearing 20 minutes worth of line left to clear for GP. And also it looks like it will be just one ride even if you make the first train or 2nd (like I probably will). I also heard you will get your shirt as you exit the ride.

Thank you/ you confirmed that I should have just Gotten in line at 930 and given up the t shirt. Glad you heard something- sitting here is so frustrating!!

I am sure you just heard the lift hill going and suddenly stop. What could be going on now?

Omg I did/ if I don’t move in 15 we have to go- not what I expected at all :(

I got in line a little after 10 and we were lined up by deprivation. Then an employee came out and said there was still an hour of regular line left and then they have to check around the ride for lost items and it would probably be at least midnight before it started. And it was at least another half hour or 45 minute wait from where I was at in line. I was like nope and then left. And I still had a 2 hour drive home.

It started before 11:30. But still I'm wondering at this point what much point is there for ERT than riding SV really late in the night one time? It's only going to even be later when the park closes at 11, I want to think 3 trains would help but I thought 2 trains would make a difference for this ERT and obviously it didn't.

We were waiting in a spot that apparently didn’t have any announcements so it was odd just sitting there for an hour without moving. Ended up on the ride at 1145, only bc my son really wanted a free shirt. In retrospect we should have just gotten in line at 930 when it was a 45 min wait, not sure what the benefit of ERT was other than the T-shirt.

I didn't even know they were giving out t shirts. The lines for ERT are longer than regular lines during normal hours. Can't imagine what it was like with only one train. Kind of defeats the purpose. Now I know what to expect and won't be going to any more of these. I think they should have Maverick open along with it to help spread out the crowd but then nobody would probably be on Maverick.

Similarly, I was there Sunday morning. Got in the regular line @9:15 and Fast Lane already had a pretty good line. I don't understand that logic. They are guaranteed at least a 45 minute wait, while I rode and was heading to Maverick before 10am.

I've never been to one of these passholder ride nights, but I've heard this same narrative so many times over the years. I'll pass.

^And yeah, I've seen that multiple times this season as well. I'm sure once they get to enter the FL queue and realize the line isn't bad, they kick themselves in the feet though. A small victory for all you fast lane haters ;)

The Passholder Ride nights I have been to have been great, but like all things probably depends on the variables. Sounds like last night people ran into new ride hype crowds (plus added people for a t-shirt), bad capacity, a long closing line , and no second ride open to thin the crowds. So yeah, I would probably stay away from these SV Tuesday nights for a while.

This past TTD/ Magnum night, TTD as a walk on and Magnum was a trim less re-ride the whole hour. Last year Valravn was a 5-10 minute wait the for one and MF was a get back in line through the special access gate for another.

Rode Magnum the last few trains until after 10, walked back to SV and was one of the last few people to get in line. Not even sure what time I got on the ride but it was great. When we got back to the station there was a handful of people in line. As I was about to exit I looked at an employee and pointed to an empty seat and they nodded their head, so I hopped back in for a 2nd ride. Overall awesome day, spent a lot of time on the beach today. Love what they have done with it!

Thanks- where were you when I originally posted lol I agree that another ride could have offset the traffic, or at least shutting down the regular line entrance at 9 but that would have made too many regular ticket holders mad.

Fixed that for you.

I was back in the queue in front of Deprivation. I didn't get in line until about 10:15. That's where an employee came out and said something, didn't say it out loud but directly to other guests that were in front, but we asked him just to confirm if we heard right. I can't imagine what the July ERT would be like at an 11PM closing. It probably won't start until around 1AM. IMO, they should have never scheduled those in July. As I said above, I won't be going to anymore of these ERT's. I have better luck when I'm just there during normal operation with less wait times. I may give it a shot when they have 3 trains, but I expect it wouldn't make a huge difference.

Did you see the guy at 10pm in front of the line queue screaming at CP employees? It was my impression that he thought he was in front of the ert line but another one was started? I kept walking on but he was screaming asking for supervisors and I can't imagine it ended well if he ended up having to wait another 2 hours.

I thought once they got the ride re-opened, the line moved pretty fast with 2 trains running. Hoping they can get 3 going soon. I'm not saying it will be a people eater like Gatekeeper, but I can imagine it will have respectable capacity at that point.
