I think they will have a camera. Afterall, wouldn't you like to have your picture taken on the world's tallest and fastest coaster? I sure would.
Its going to be on the bottom of the first hill.
I think I remember Jeff saying either on the first hill or on the island turnaround somewhere. They'd definitely have an on ride photo, I'm wondering if it be a little higher in price that the others. Seems like another good way to squeeze out a few extra bucks to help pay for the ride.
I don't think that they are going to put it on the bottom of the first hill. The reason behind this is because none of the other coasters with on-ride photos at cedar point have them at the bottom of the first drop(i think). I think putting it at the island turnaround would make more sense, but at the bottom of the first hill would be kewl too.
I don't think they need any extra help paying for the ride. I'm sure their Pepsi deal could pay for a lot of that not to mention the hike in the ticket price. I would love to see it at the bottom of the first hill. That way you could actually see how scared the people are instead of taking it on a more mild part of the track like on magnum.

Well, I don't see any other coasters with a 300 foot drop, do you? Just because they haven't done it before, doesn't mean they won't start now... right?
hmmm... so is the little photo booth up yet then? like has it been built or what?.. cause i didn't read anything about it or what ever, think the photo center will be ready by opening day?

Well, I know some of you haven't been here for awhile, and I will give you an answer. Yes, there will be an onride photo, we (at least I) don't know for certain where, and the Hot Shots booth has been built.

it has just been pretty much.... hmmm... a tradition for cedar point to put it mid-way through the ride and plus it seems really hard to have 16 flashes while going 92 mph in one spot that is, but i value your opinion CABEWNBC thats just my opinion and thoughts

oh don't worry, the first hill isn't all that baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddddddd!!!!!
Searching out and reviving old topics ain't a bad idea...it only took me a few seconds. To quote Jeff, this should shed some light on the situation:
--------------------------------------------------
The cameras used are essentially video cameras. They should have no problem freezing motion. The bigger challenge, to me, would be firing the strobe at a high enough rate. Face/Off at PKI has cameras at the bottom of the second hill, where I assume the train is going about 50 mph.

It's interesting that all of CP's on-ride photos use one camera at a time (two for the B&M's, one each side). A lot of parks use arrays of cameras.

If I had to pick where to put it, I'd put it at the bunny hop, because I would only have to run cable a few dozen feet to the point-of-sale. That's just my speculation. If Robin said it would be somewhere when he spoke at COSI, then he's the authority.

Hey Jeff,
Any idea on whether or not the photo booth will be up and running on May 7th? I REALLY want to get my on-ride photo on my very first ride on MF(not that that would stop me from riding it, though :))

So do I. I honestly don't know. The building, which you've been able to see for awhile now on the Web cam, was only an empty shell about a week ago. But the whole park is a mess, and somehow they always manage to get things ready. The only thing they really missed last year was getting Woodstock's photo booth complete on time.

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?" (as stated by my best-friends about CP)
yeah the one on woodstock's express (err.. what ever it's called) is real easy to see cause the ride go so damn slow... i don't see a point for a camera on the ride... but then again i don't like that ride.. wait maybe because i'm not a 5 year old.. grrrr

I WILL ride that big blue rollercoaster!
Oh, believe me--if you were a parent, Baby's first rollercoaster ride would be quite an occasion to remember by putting a picture into the scrap book. Then of course, your parents bring it out years later to embarrass you in front of guests by saying, "Look how horrified little Joey was..." For us adults, it's actually rather funny to to be able to pose on an on-ride photo. Hecks, most of the time on larger, faster rides, you're going so fast and pulling so many g's (Mantis or one side on Raptor) that it looks like your eyes are popping out and your skin is flying off the top of your face. That's why I prefer photos taken when not just pulling out of an extreme element. Mean Streak and Magnum are great for this. I believe the best place for a good photo-op on MF will most definitely be the Great-Hill-of-Super-Duper-Air.

What does this have to do with MF's on-ride photo?
