PKI Question

Just a quick question on PKI. The hubby and I were talking about doing opening weekend this spring instead of CP, blasphemy I know.

Neither of us has been to PKI, and we've talked it to death so "08" is the year.

My question is, is there a place to sign up for a travel guide like CP's? I'm not worried about tickets since we'll be doing the Platinum Pass, more so just a guide on the park itself. I've searched the site, but I'm coming up dry. Could be my lack of sleep, and fighting all those other women this morning for the deals.

Basically just looking for info on the park and the Cincinnati area since we're looking at staying for 4-5 days and we're pretty unfamiliar with the area as a whole.

let us just call it KI from now on

Your best bet if you're looking for information from fellow enthusiasts would be http://www.kiextreme.com/ , as well as http://www.cfvillage.com/index.php . Ask in those forums, and you should get some ample feedback, as I'm guessing this thread will be closed by tomorrow evening.

Wow, I know I'm going to take flak for this, but let's allow Walt and Jeff to decide which threads will be closed.

Well, since I'm now evidently a back seat moderator for making an educated guess, and it seems we've got a few pertinent links to click through; Walt, Jeff, or any of the other mods care to do the honors? ;) *** Edited 11/25/2007 2:35:12 AM UTC by BlueStreak64***

Wait! I want in too before it is closed. ;)

Begs the question. Since the next version of Pointbuzz will be without Geauga Lake as a topic of discussion, I wonder if Jeff and Walt are considering allowing KI topics. Argument for: after GL, it seems to be the next highest secondary park of interest to CP fans. Argument against: it doesn't overlap CP's central market.

Oh goodness. Remind me never to make a simple statement on this site again. Oh wait, that means not posting. ;)

We stay at KI Comfort Suites. Reasonable rates, free breakfast and only a few minutes to the park. There are several others nearby. The KI web site also has a list of nearby accomodations. We love KI, more than CP in many ways. Enjoy your visit, we will be there opening day in 08 too, whenever that is. :)

There are a few hotels right next to KI, but if you want a little separation, Fields Ertel Rd. is a few miles south of KI and there are a ton of hotels/stores/restaurants on that exit. The traffic is somewhat chaotic though.

Last year we did opening weekends at both CP and KI. KI usually opens in April so you don't have to choose between the two.

Did you try the link http://paramountparks.com/KingsIsland/contact.cfm

Just send a message and tell them your address and you will get a brochure in the mail.

Nothing on that page says anything about a brochure like CP's (with info and coupons) being available.

Thats because there isnt one.

CP is a resort, and thus must attract new visitors from a wider area, KI relies on its sweet location halfway between Cinci and Dayton for most of its customers and thus focuses on local adds.

If you plan on going to CP later in the year just get a Platnum Pass, 4 or more days at a CF pass pays for it (3 if you need to use parking.)

I recieved one by hitting guest relations and asking them if they could send me a brochure and sure enough it came 2 weeks later.

I would go to the website KICentral they have loads of information about the park. Kings Island is my home park and really is a great park with wonderful landscaping. I would suggest speding about a week or so in the area because there is lots to do. Enjoy Kings Island ands its offerings for about 2 days. I would suggest spending the day at a Reds game, and going to the Newport Aquarium that is just across the river. Also make sure you don't miss the Cincinnati zoo its one of the best in the country. Most of all aviod coming in August and Late July because it is blistering hot.
