Question about maxx pass and other parks

I'll be hitting Knotts soon, and have the Cedar Point Maxx Pass. Do I just show this at the gate, or do I have to go to guest relations?

Thanks for any advice!

You should be able to use it at the gate. They will scan it just like at Cedar Point. If it doesn't work they will send you to guest relations to get an actual ticket.

This is how it worked when I went to Kings Island last month.

I had to go to Guest Relations when I went to Knotts, that is what I had to do in 2005.

They were very nice and impressed that I came all the way from Ohio to visit them.

Enjoy Silver Bullet! :)

With the exception of the 3 Ohio parks, you still have to take your pass to Guest Relations if your pass is from an Ohio park.

Beware that unless things have changed since January, the Knott's people have no clue how to handle a season pass from a different park. It took me an hour to get in.

They had to photocopy mine.. Then call Cedar Point. It was kind of ridiculous considering the first time I had a Six Flags Worlds of Adventure pass (it was 2003) and I just scanned that into Magic Mountain.

It doesn't even work well at Ohio parks... I have a KI-based Maxx Pass and have to take it to guest relations at CP. It's not usually a big deal there -- they just let you in through the back guest relations door -- but when we went to Dorney it took a while, had to fill out a log book, etc. There, they gave us paper tickets and we had to wait in that line to get in...

Anyways, as others have said, you'll have to take it to guest relations. (And I've had the same easy SF season pass/sister park experience... it doesn't seem like it would be that hard, not sure why CF can't make it work.)

Hey, at least they can scan the All-Ohio parking without a problem.

I have a Max pass that I bought on my Cedar Point trip back in may. I have used it 3 times now at Knott's and all you do is go to guest relations window to the left of the front gate. You give them your pass they photo copy it, make a phone call and then hand you a comp admission ticket per pass. O yeah and you sign your name on a list for comp passes. All in all takes about 5 min. Someday all the parks just might be on the same system. But until that day it will have to do.

Have fun! I think plerious might be open soon. it was testing on saturday night.

cheers

It appears as if the parking is not included in the maxx plus passes. Was there not a time when the parking was included in the pass price? If they do not include the parking now, then how much is parking at CP and KI? I am coming up next month for both parks and possibly GL.

That's one of the things I'll give Six Flags props for. Their season pass system works flawlessly. First of all, the whole buy a day ticket and get a season pass for free is awesome for the customer. Secondly, I bought my season pass online for Magic Mountain. When my friend and I showed up, we were literally out of the ticket office, pass in hand (with our picture) in less than two minutes. It may have only taken one minute. LOL! We were both stunned. We went to Great Adventure and SF New England with the SFMM pass and it just scanned right at the turnstile. No questions or anything. They even gave us free friend passes we were allowed to use at Great Adventure and SF New England. Those were scanned right at the turnstile too.

They really have their sh1t together when it comes to selling and processing passes. The best part is they don't have 50 billion different kinds of passes to pick from. LOL!!

GibsonSoft... no, parking isn't included (except at a few select parks... I believe a Dorney Pass includes parking, at Dorney only.) I bought All-Ohio parking for a whopping $75 but it's saved me money... parking at both KI and CP are $10. Yuck.

ETA: I believe the GL parking is "only" $9. A bargain, yay! (Note the sarcasm, lol.)

I shared Tim's experience with how easy it was to get my pass at Magic Mountain. I was pretty amazed at how fast and smooth their system worked. I wish I could have shared Raptorqueen's experience at Knott's. Like others have mentioned, they did at one point (after 20 minutes of arguing) try to call Cedar Point about my pass, but didn't seem to understand why no one was answering at 7 PM (east coast time) on January 2nd....

The issue with Cedar Fair is that as they purchased all their parks one by one (Paramount being the exception) every park had a different kind of admissions system. There was never an effort to make a system that worked "across the board", and frankly, I don't think there was any real need to do so. There was some upgrading to the CP system between last year and this year, but an overhaul that would bring all the CF parks onto one system would be expensive, and we know how CF hates to invest in things like that. Clearly though, the logical solution if it ever did happen would be to implement the existing Paramount system in all parks, since my understanding is all the Paramount parks had matching systems in place.

If you are a minor, do you have to show an ID of some sort when you get a maxx pass or season pass?

Nope.

We bought our MAXX passes from Carowinds. Does anyone know if we will have to go to Guest Relations or just to the gate?

I also bought my MAXX pass from Carowinds and went to CP in May (just in time for Maverick, thank God) and you have to go to Guest Relations to the right of the front gate. But we got in the park at 9 am (just like Joe Cool members).

Awesome CP!

If you have a King's Island pass, Geauga Lake pass, or Cedar Point pass, you can use the season pass entrance at King's Island, Geauga Lake, and Cedar Point. Any other combination of passes at any other parks need to go through Guest Relations. The exception maybe being Paramount to Paramount parks. I don't know how their system works.

We will be staying at Lighthouse Point during our stay. So you are saying we will have to drive all the way to the front gate to get in because we have Maxx passes from carowinds? We can't get in the back by soak city and challenge park?

Dvo's avatar

^No, you can get in by Soak City. My brother works at Kings Island and he supposedly had to go to Guest Relations to get in as an employee, but he got in the gate by Soak City.

Any gate can let you in with another park's pass. It can just sometimes take a few seconds longer at other gates depending on staffing levels.
