Question about the actual Wristband for FL/FL+

We're planning on a trip for July 22-23 (weekend, not ideal, I know) and we're definitely getting FL+ on Sunday but I'm certainly tempted to spring for Saturday as well.

My question is: I've seen images of the wristband, and it looks, well.....totally basic. Does it come with a barcode that is unique to the day, and scanned at the ride entrance? Do they change up the colors and theme to ward off cheaters? Do you just flash it and go on into the line--and if so, has there ever been instances of people forging their own fake bands and having it go unnoticed? How is it regulated?

I'm used to Disney (I am a travel agent specializing in Disney Travel), where everything is very electronic and attached to your RFID encrypted ticket/online Disney account, so paying lots of extra money for a Fast Lane for a flimsy wristband seems....kinda weird. Just curious to know how the process works.

Thanks!

Kristin

I've never done Fast Lane, but I know that there is a different ride featured on the wristband every day.

We are doing the same thing but the following weekend. We are not going to get to the park Saturday til after 5 so it's a waste to buy fast passes for Saturday but we have already purchased them for Sunday. I would really like to hear your experience especially since you are going on a Sunday. Our determining factor is I have a bad hip and cannot stand for long periods of time, last year it about killed me so I'm really excited to have them this year. I'm anxious to see how long the wait times are.

I've read that the bands rarely sell out, and if they do on ultra-busy days it isn't until several hours into the day. We are waiting to buy them until we get close and have a weather forecast. I've heard Sundays can be hit-or miss but Saturday is generally packed, if its a nice day. I haven't been in 7 years and we're only there for the 2 days, so I'm willing to spend more $ to avoid the lines. (Which is exactly what CP was banking on when they started selling these things for crazy rates...)

In the past I know of people printing them off online and using those for free. No, however, I don't believe that would work because of the new barcodes.

This year the bands have individual barcodes and they are scanned at each ride, they belong to the purchasing individual and cannot be transferred

Thank you! This is reassurring. :)

I was just there 7/9/2016 and nobody scans the barcode on each ride.
