Resort Reservations

Hey all, I found out this morning from CP Reservations that resort reservations for this season are now set and open.

My family always sets theirs as soon as we can, so I thought I'd let every who may have been waiting know :)

This is just another thing that sucks about CP resort reservations. They don't tell you when they open for the season, and it's always on a different date each year.

Plus they don't usually let you book HW yet, not till "later" but they don't know, or won't tell you when "later" is.

in the email they said "opening day through labor day weekend" -- so I would imagine shortly it would be available for Halloweekends.

Reservations for Campers Village not available yet :-(

Perhaps I'm wrong, but in the past, I'm pretty sure people have said they were able to call (not use the website) and reserve a specific date, with the understanding that pricing was not yet finalized. No idea if that's still true, or if it was ever true, but calling might be the way to go.

It changes from year to year. And that is part of what sucks. We spend the summer in our RV and make most of our reservations 6+ months in advance, and we know when reservations "open" for a particular place. CP sucks in this regard, not only does it vary, but nobody on the phone can give you a straight answer.

I told John H about this once and he pretended to care, but it obviously wasn't important. I'm sure I'm not alone, but perhaps not a majority either.

I called yesterday to put a hold on a site for July 4 at Camper Village and they are already booked up. First time since 2005 that we will not be at CP for the 4th! Bummer...

Well, we HAD a site reserved in the original campground circle for July 4th week and they just called to tell us the circle is NOT going to be available this summer. That's a shocker. We were lucky enough to be moved to the new full hook up sites, but I'm stunned. What the heck.

Chris

For the past several years I have been calling and holding a site at this time of year with no problem getting a site and was surprised that they were booked solid already.

Did they say the circle was no longer going to be open or that the site you wanted was not available? That's a lot of sites not available next summer. If it is not going to be open, I wonder why?

Paul

I was told the entire circle was closed for the season. Because I haven't made any reservations except for the Fourth, I'm concerned now about availibility. You're right, that's a lot of sites lost. I know there are many of us on this forum who camp there.

Thanks for the clarification Chris!

I'm really bummed, we have been doing the 4th at camper village since my youngest was 2, lots of memories and good times. I guess we'll be making different plans this year.

:-(

Be sure to keep checking for cancels. We've lucked out before, but with all those sites gone now........................

I don't know what to say. April Fools hasn't come yet. Why would they close the campsites down?

Maybe building something new for use by all of the resorts? Tony did say they are making another announcement for 2014.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I talked with two different reservationists and they both said the same thing. My husband have been talking about it all day. We stay at Camper Village two or three times a year, and it's rarely empty, especially in July, August and the Halloweekends.

For reference, since I'm not familiar with the layout, is the original circle the one closest to Soak City?

Yes. Thats correct. There used to be 3 circles and now circle B is the only one remaining. Maybe they are upgrading/redesigning the circle to include full hook-ups and cable tv.

Wow, that really blows. I have been afraid of this for a while. That's a lot of lost revenue for the park, so I would imagine whatever is going in it's place would have to be a significant revenue generator. Soak city expansion seems like a possibility, but not enough to offset all that lost income. Wiping out many of the few remaining trees, which were in that circle, also would suck.

I am falling out of love with CP for so many reasons. Not any one thing, but just generally the way the business is run. Of course, I'll keep going because the ride collection is amazing, as are the memories we have there, but it's not what it once was, in some ways.

Ahh, but what if it turns out to be something unique and awesome? A Soak City expansion, while possible, could be one part of something bigger or it could be something entirely different. Wouldn't it be cool if something along the lines of a "Camp Snoopy" campground kind of thing is created? I find that just as enticing as a Soak City expansion (which I think would be justified).

The last Soak City expansion took a large portion of campground. It's not open for enjoyment and money making at the beginning of the season or the end of the year either when campsites could be. Last fall it was difficult to get a campsite. Can't imagine what it will be like now.
