whats the minimum age to be a ride operator

At Cedar Point you have to be 18 to operate a ride.

Thats also chain wide.

^Really? As of last year there were 16 year olds working rides at Kings Island.

I believe 18 is Ohio law for "heavy machinery". Could probably get away with under 18 for platform but not actual operation of rides.

what type of job can a 16 year old get?

You can work in foods, gift shops, sweep. The only downside is that unless you live really close to CP, you will most likely have to wait until you are 18 because you can't live in housing unless you are 18.

i will probably have to wait i live in lower michigan

Operators at CP must be 18.

The age min age at KI is 16. From the KI website "Rides associate: Job Code: 411-1 Minimum Age: 16"

Carowinds, and Michigan's Adventure also allow people 16 years old to be ride operators.

I stand corrected, thanks for the correct info Red Garter Rob.

Ah, not as many Intamins at those parks, so probably easier to operate. ;)

^ true

Has nothing to do with it.. As much of a pain from a mechanical standpoint Intamin's are known to be.

From an operator standpoint, they are some of the most "operator friendly" rides out there.

Second only to B&M but they are known as "follow the blinking lights" kind of rides.

Couldn't agree more! Intamin's are about as easy as it gets to run as far as rides go. The programming involved is brilliant.

It was a joke, guys. But, it's nice to know that Intamins aren't complex in all ways. :)

I wish CP allowed Ride Ops to be 16. Oh well, I guess I have to wait 3 more long years. Sigh...

At Geauga Lake, it was 16. I think you could be even younger then that if you were in games.

^That would have even been better for me. I live close enough to where it was that I could work there any time and without having to get a room. Oh well.

With King's Island, their ride ops can be sixteen, but they have to be eighteen in order to do controls. Fun fact.
