Season Pass Add-On's / Thoughts

Mystical Matthew's avatar

Hey, so I've gotten quite a bit of use out of my season passes this year. With that in mind, I have a few things that I think would be awesome.

I wouldn't expect these to be included with the passes. They'd be add-on's like the all season dining plan.

1.) All Season Email Ride Photo Pass - Right now they've got the all day email photo pass for $30... I'd love to have my various ride photos, but I typically only buy one a season. I'd love to be able to buy an entire season of photos.

2.) Vegetarian Options on the All Season Dining Pass - I know healthy options were discussed. I'd like to throw in that some of us are vegetarians. If you could make the healthy options vegetarian friendly that would be awesome.

3.) Season Pass Locker Rental - Paying $2 to store my souvenir drink cup every time I want to get on a roller coaster sucks. Massively. Let me pay a flat fee at the beginning of the season to store it. This would let me only have one locker in use at any given time... So I'd have to end the rental at the previous location to open a new locker elsewhere.

4.) Season Pass Ride 'n Refresh - This would be an alternative to the locker rental. I figured it out and with the locker rental I actually pay MORE for a drink cup then just buying cups of pop. If we have an all season dining plan, could I buy a season pass of Ride 'n Refresh too?

5.) Bulk Fast Lane Purchase - Let me preface this by saying that I HATE the fast lane system. With that said, here's a thought... There's only ever 1-2 in my group, so I don't qualify for the discount. What if I purchased 10 of them at once though? That would qualify me for the discount, just don't make me use them all on the same day... Give me a voucher for each one I buy that can be exchanged for a wrist band when I arrive at the park.

6.) Fix the "Our Scanner is Broke So We Can't Give You The Discount" problem. This is my biggest pet peeve. Its happened to me multiple times at both KI and CP. Usually when I'm trying to buy food. If your scanner is broke, that's not my fault. Please give me the benefit of the doubt and give me my discount.

Just some thoughts. I know they might not all be feasible, but these are things I'd be willing to pay for if they were available.

I'd like the locker rental or ride and refresh option. I'd be happy to pay an extra $20 or so for one of those. I didn't buy a souvenir cup this year because it never pays for itself due to the need for me to rent a locker. It's just cheaper for me to buy a drink in a throw away cup.

We have never been denied our season meal plan or discount because of faulty equipment. If they are having techincal issues, that have said so and just honored our passes.

I would not be surprised that benefits will continue to be added for platinum passholders in the coming years.

Just a question - why don't folks sit their cups next to a bench before going on a coaster? You can write your name on the bottom with a sharpee to know it's yours when you pick it up. And if it gets stolen, no big deal, but the odds of that happening are low.

This is part of the benefit of having a stroller - you can just park it somewhere.

That's what we do, leave it in the stroller, nobody has ever messed with it. But all good points by Mystical Matthew, I think those are all good ideas.

I have to agree with this one, for both just the day and for season passes. A day wristband could go for $8 - $10 and lets say $25 - $30 for the season. At that price, Cedar Point will still make a profit from the drink wristband.

The season pass benefits are a welcome addition and will more than likely make me want to renew my pass. Other parks had these add ons, but for some reason the prior CEO though it was a big enough privilege to just go to the park. I have purchased things I never would have due to the many discounts - keep up the great work Matt!

How many people would want to wear a drink wristband all summer long? I certainly would not.

If the wristband is easily taken on and off, there's no way for the park to protect against abuse. A group could buy one season drink pass and just transfer it from wrist to wrist during the day.

If it's all season, then they'd likely put it on your season pass, negating your misplaced fear of wristbands. ;)

I was responding to Smiley5129's mention of a wristband.

I should have clarified. My issue isn't with the season dining plan. I actually didn't buy that because of the lack of healthy options.

The other day I tried to buy some blueberries. They couldn't give me my 10% discount because their scanner was broken. I know it was only like $0.30, but it was still annoying.

I've had similar issues at both parks throughout the season. Usually when trying to purchase healthy food options.

I'd also like to state that I think my Platinum Pass is a great value. Everything I mentioned is stuff that I'd happily pay extra for on top of my regular pass.

Finally, I'm slightly paranoid. I'd be afraid that if I left my drink cup unattended someone would take a whiz in it or something. ;-)

I always thought it would be cool if you could load cash on your pass so you didn't need a wallet in the park and develop some type of rewards system where if you spend x amount with the pass then you earn a free game, fries, etc.

They registered a trademark for a FastPay system last year, so it could be in the works. Seeing as all the issues they still have with the scanner system working, it may be a while.

^^And remember that Kings Island was the test bed park for the Season Pass Perks program a few year's ago. Whatever you spent in park or on tickets could build up rewards. It disappeared after one season but they said it would probably be back in the future and there were talks that it would be implemented chain wide.

I also believe that Dorney Park began testing RFID FastPay in 2013 and I swore the Point was doing it this year.

In the past I would have said "nah, people don't bother things here" but Monday evening someone threw a cup of Coke, ice and all, through my slightly cracked car window in the parking lot. it was only open about an inch and a half so for as wet as everything in the passenger seat was and as far to the other end of the car they managed to splatter they put some real effort into it.

"Our scanners are down" is not acceptable IMO. If you've been denied a discount because of that, it's ridiculous.

thedevariouseffect's avatar

Even if the scanners are down, there should be a manual way to enter your pass number..or hell look up your demographics and say oh hey you are a person with a pass, etc.

Is a bs claim..Glad I haven't had to deal with it yet.

My biggest request for an added benefit would be to come up with a system to replace carrying around those drink bottles you purchase for the season. Its a great deal to get a refill for a buck, but totally inconvenient to carry that thing around when you want to hit a coaster.

When we take ours into the park, its when we typically are not going to ride coasters. If we are going to hit some rides, then we leave it in the car. I know there is a good solution out there, just need to get it implemented for next year.

^Exactly. That's the reason I passed on buying one this year. I'll either need to rent a locker, which is at least $2 each, leave it near a bench or in the grass (which I don't like doing, I'm afraid it will get stolen or tampered with), or leave it in my vehicle (which will take a considerable amount of time to walk out to the parking lot).

It's just cheaper and easier for me to get a drink in a throw away cup. If I rent lockers, the cup never pays for itself. That's the reason I like the locker rental or ride and refresh idea for an add-on.
