It's weird that the "Maxx Pass" doesn't include separate waterparks (like Soak City) but does include parks with "self-contained" waterparks (like Geauga Lake.) Let's rename it "Not-Quite-Maxx Pass".

A real "Maxx" pass should include admission to everything (seeing this announcement is somewhat disappointing.) I would have liked to see parking "everywhere" included as well. I think they're missing an opportunity to "encourage" pass holders to try other parks by socking them with an extra $9 every time they drive in.

I also find it interesting that there's no price there. I guess we need to wait until Aug 25? I'd be surprised if the Maxx Pass price is >$150, since it doesn't include parking everywhere and (separate) waterparks.

I hope that Cedar Point offers a "true" Maxx pass, one that includes admission everywhere (including Soak City.)

Hey, I heard a rumor that Top Thrill Dragster is sinking...

I've been waiting anxiously to find out if Cedar Fair was going to do something like this. I make many trips to Kings Island each year and I get to Cedar Point for a few days also. That pass will definitely help me save some money!

Good catch, I will be waiting patiently for the pricing. CP is my home park, so I will be curious how the Maxx pass works for parking.....

Platinum has it's perks. So does living exactly 97.5 miles from King's Island and Cedar Point

I wouldn't look too much into this. It's for KI, and not for CP, which is always different from the norm. I would guess KI is pretty much just keeping the same perks they had before (free parking for renewing). I don't think you can look for that coming from Cedar Point.

I would look so far as that your CP pass will be good at all the Paramount parks next year.

That was one huge question answered.

I'm not sure about that Loopy.

It would appear to me that there is an option to have a CP pass that works at all the parks next year, but there may be other options as well. Also, the first option listed on the website seems as if it could be for only PKI. It could be possible that passholders will be able to buy a pass that is good at only CP as well.

In addition, if we're calling it the "Cedar Fair Maxx Pass," is it possible that there could finally be a system in place that allows you to scan your pass at each and every park? That sure would be nice.

I'm sure there will be a CP only pass as well as a CF MaXX Pass. I'm still curious as to the status of how they'll deal with GL next year. If they separate CP and GL again from a CP pass then i'll be inclined to take a trip to PKI to get my season pass processed. The only thing that would stop me there is the parking pass. In that case i'll just spend the extra money to get the GL add-on again.

I'm curious how they other park passes will work out. Sure having an upcharge for a CP/GL/KI pass makes sense. But does it make sense to charge an MIA passholder more when they may only go once or twice to CP? I spend two weekends a year at CP (which more than pays for the MIA pass) and (possibly more than)a couple days at MIA, but I don't know if I'd spring for the bonus either way. I'd probably just get a CP only pass and say screw it to MIA, and then thats a ton of money they've lost from me on drinks and snacks.

I'd be inclined to even disagree with the CP/GL/KI combo pass costing extra and that may be why they're going to have company wide passes. No matter if you go there once or 10 times I think they're going to go that route.

It kind of burns my rear as it is to have to pay extra for GL now. I live in PA, why should I have to pay extra for a park that i MAY visit once out of the whole year (PKI)?

Part of it is going to be the cost. I may just get a CP pass next year and say screw it to going to other parks. I was actually looking forward to getting an MIA pass and using that to check out KI and maybe GL next year. If its going to cost more than maybe 15-10 bucks extra, I won't do it, I'll just go to CP my couple weekends and not even go to MIA.

There will most likely be a discount for us season pass holders in the getaway guide :)

What is a Getaway guide and how do you get one?

Passes go on sale Saturday

Adult pass: $74.95; child/senior pass: $44.95. These are up to $20 cheaper than the current season. In 2006, to get an adult rate under $75 required buying a pack of four passes.

Cedar Fair Maxx pass: $124.95 (new this year). Provides access to all 12 Cedar Fair parks including Cedar Point and Geauga Lake in northern Ohio.

Renewing pass holders get free parking if they purchase by Oct. 29

New pass holders can add season parking for $34.95

That was on the Enquirer's site.

What is a Getaway guide and how do you get one?

Its like a CP brochure that has a lot of coupons in it. I get mine in the mail every year because I'm a season pass holder. You may want to call CP to see if your able to obtain one.

You do not get one just for being a season pass holder. They're sent on request (or per a mailing list that was joined at some point) if you live far enough away.

You can request one from Cedar Point.

Go here for details. I think there is also a place on the website to request one.

OK Guys have some more info for you! Called PKI and this is what they told me....Free parking is Only for PKI renewing Season pass holders it is not for everyone else BUMMER, and it is only for your home park. So if you travel to CP or GL you will have to pay for parking. You can only renew you season pass at the park you purchased it from, Also called Cedar Point and asked for more info regarding joe cool and all the add ons, the girl is going to call me back with more info when I get it I will post it. *** Edited 8/23/2006 7:36:01 PM UTC by CoasterXtreme72***

"Priority concert seating".

I guess that answers another question as well.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
