Shoot the Rapids or Classic Log Flume?

I'd personally prefer Cedar Point had a Classic Log Flume in place of Shoot the Rapids. They provide for great family experiences. They may not be the most popular, but hey, neither is StR. What's your opinion on this?

I'm not sure how STR isn't a classic flume ride. It takes you through a river and has some awesome theming to it.

Have you ever been in an Arrow flume boat? They don't flood, sink, capsize, can navigate turns, and they don't have restraints. That's a classic.

Who says they're not popular? Coaster, Dodgem, and log ride- usually the longest lines at any park.

STR is the exact opposite of a classic log flume. Sheesh. Haven't we been over this, class?

I would think not being in any way shaped like a log would be the first hint.

Flume! You can get cooled off without being soaked. Plus, I don't like the idea of the over the shoulder harness and a water ride. I still haven't ridden STR, I want to try it this year on a very hot day, if it is running.

When we were at Knotts last weekend....i was sad that we couldn't bring the Timber Mountain log ride back to Cedar Point with us! Talk about a great flume ride, Wow! That, and the Calico Mine Ride. Definitely going to miss those two rides!

I know Knotts is a theme park, but there is no reason that CP can't have a ride of that calibre.

You should ride it anyway. You'll like it regardless.

I'll take a classic flume. I've ridden STR a few times before, and it's not as bad as everyone makes it to be. I just don't like getting drenched.

I've thought STR sucked since it was first announced and I saw the concept artwork.

I had a similar impression when Maverick was first announced. Fortunately I was quite wrong in that case.

But STR completely fulfilled my expectations.

It's a shame- I loved WWL. While I was sad to see it go, I was comforted by my expectations that it would be replaced with something world-class and much better, as was the case when WWL replaced the original STR.

But it turned out to be quite the pooch-screw. It'd be nice if I see an implicit acknowledgement of this by CP in the form of a new traditional log-flume attraction elsewhere in the park, though I don't expect it.

If they do tear down ID as suggested in a current thread (which I hope doesn't happen) that would be a fantastic site for a log flume as it is a nice wooded piece of real estate.

Except it is not an over the shoulder harness, it is a lap bar.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I definitely enjoy the classic log flumes better. Do they load full boats on STR now or is it still a balancing game?

Still a balancing game, row 3 does not get loaded

Unless they get new boats, keeping row three empty is probably the permanent operating procedure.

They're not going to get new boats again I'm sure.

Another quality product from Intamin. It's unfortunate that they can't really make a good case for breach of contract or some other legal concept that would entitle them to money back for one ride after another that takes years to get it running right. Though to be honest, I have no idea what kind of assets the company even has.
