I created a little time lapse of Cam3, and didn't see much. looked like there might be a little more activity in the area, but no (de)construction equipment.

Tony is in the business of PR, which is basically just lying to people who know the truth until the park is ready for the truth to be confirmed.

If it is leaving, I don't expect them to begin deconstruction until after Valravn is complete. If it is true, I would bet that that area remains empty this season and more than likely next. Whatever is going in there, and I am guessing a dark ride of sorts with a coaster nearby (there would probably be room for both, depending on DA).

I think it would be sweet if they put a coaster there eventually because the Frontier Trail is the only section of the park without a coaster. I realize it can be argued that MF is there but I really don't consider it part of the Frontier Trail.

What sense would it make to wait until Valravn is complete?

Do they have to have a coaster in every corner of the park?

Well, I've thought the ride sucked on a number of different levels since the concept art was first released and the layout became apparent. The actual ride experience was worse than I anticipated, from the sheer boredom of it to the awful boats that detracted from the log-flume experience with their seating arrangements and restraints.

I've ridden it one or two times ever, and that was years ago.

But, I'm quite surprised that it's being removed so soon... unless there are still inherent safety issues with the design that can't be rectified in a cost-effective manner. Yet if this were the case, I doubt it would have reopened after the 2013 incident.

I'll be disappointed if they replace it with something along the lines of Ripcord. STR has more value to me as scenic decoration when walking down Frontier Trail than that.

Now, if they effectively acknowledge that the ride was a mistake and replace it with what should have gone there in the first place - a world-class traditional log flume - I'll let out the biggest YESSS!! (as in "Somebody gets it!") since the announcements of Magnum and MF.

Well this came as a huge surprise when I read this today. STR was/is a very nice looking ride, probably the best theme job Cedar Point has done. However, since Holiday World removed their version of STR, which also lasted only a few seasons, I've wondered if STR's days were numbered. Intamin really does make a crappy product, at least their water rides. The Arrow flumes lasted for decades and were popular rides for as long as they ran. The Intamin rides can't even make it to 10 years!

As for a replacement, what if the future dark ride was a water ride? Part indoor, part outdoor. I think Busch has a ride like that, I forget the name, but there is some fire and special effects in the indoor part and a flume drop and splash down in the outdoor part. I think Splash Mountain at Disney also has some indoor and outdoor parts. I'd love to see a western or pirate themed ride like that, I think it could be the best dark ride in the chain if done correctly.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I liked STR but I loved WWL. I sure hope that they replace it with a traditional flume that is made by someone other than intimin and keep the great theming!

Just watched POV of Timber Mountain at Knotts Berry Farm based on a PP. Looks great! Would Cedar Point ever do this? Or is there too much theming?

Wow, I wish! It looks like a lot of fun. If they used a similar theme, they should theme it after boneville and use skeletons

Is Mack the only company still making traditional flume rides?

I feel like a dark ride on the frontier trail would be perfect. It'd keep the trail a pretty quiet and peaceful area of the park , as it already is, and the location of the building could be easily hidden, (Unless you go by it on the train), preventing any um- 'disasters' on the CP skyline.

I'm thinking of a dark ride where people board boats similar to Pirates of the Caribbean, enter the show building that's hidden with landscaping similar to the artificial rock covering MF's tunnels. As the boats exit the building they plunge down a mild hill that causes little to no splash on the riders.

I went on this last year. It was a great ride. The themeing, the animatronics, the pace of the ride...all excellent! Favorite ride there, followed by the Mystery Mine Train.
The themeing of the entire park is excellent!

I don't think we would ever see anything like that at Cedar Point since Knotts is battling Disneyland just down the road for people through the turnstiles.

I bet people are going to be cheering when Tony confirms Shoot the Rapids being removed. Good Grief!
