Should Geauga Lake close the ride side and renovate

and focus profits on the waterPark? Then when they have cleaned up the ride side reopen it and start advertizing all the renovations perhaps even moving Demon Drop to Geauga

Don't they already have a demon drop? I know they did when it was six flags it was called Mr. Hydes Nast Falls.

It was removed this year before the park opened for 2006.

The Demon Drop is a classic at Cedar Point , you don't want to see that going.

The ride side is closed, for the next seven months. If they want to renovate, Geauga Lake has plenty of time to do so in the off season.

Geauga really needs to connect the two sides of the park. They need to develop the area between Raging Wolf Bobs and the area by the simulator and 3d movie theater. This will help draw people through to the simulator area because of the attraction a new ride can bring to an area.

I would love to see them move some stuff around and make the midway through pepsi falls and thunderhawk area bigger. That area gets so tight on busy days.

The problem with developing the "land bridge" is that the wet lands beside the lake are protected, EPA and all. I do know that it was a hassle to build the Batman in 2000. But i don't know exactly how they got around that. But the point is that there isn't too much space between the road and the lake over there. Doesn't mean they can't do anything, but it does limit what can be done.

And the answer to the question at hand... no.

Too bad because its going for next year.

Has that been confirmed?

It has not been confirmed. It is still for sale, though.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was gone after next season or in the middle of next season of 2007. There have been a couple trips I've gone to Cedar Point and Demon Drop was open in the morning but then went down like around 3 or 4 oclock. I'd hate to see Cedar Point take out Demon Drop, but then again, I know something great will go in it's place if it does sell.

Cedar Point is not out of room for expansion!

Also I do think that Geauga Lake does need a lot of help on the coaster side.

My only problem with the question at hand is this...you will shorten the season even further because there is less warm weather time to bring guests in to the waterpark side. I don't see how that would help at all.

Remember that Geauga Lake is a tad short on money at the moment...they are probably still trying to catch up on the damage Six Flags did to it. 4 new rides in one year? That had to cost a LOT of money. I'm sure they're doing the best they can to make it a really good park, but with business being really slow and everything else that's going on...it could take a while.

Being short on money might have been true if we were talking about a single, independent park. But GL is part of a chain, and it's that total debt load that matters. And we're not even talking the same debt load that was worsened by those four new coasters. That was Six Flags, not Cedar Fair. You are right, though, that they took a bath on the whole SF Ohio/WoA venture.

Edited for grammar. Because it matters, dammit!

The area they need to work on the most is the old waterpark, it looks really bad over there. At the very least they should just level it and make it look decent, and then use the land down the road to expan the park. The ride side really isn't that bad, but they do neeed to do something with that section of midway near thunderhawk and plundge(as stated above), the walkway between the two parks near wolf bobs, like someone said above, needs something. There's plenny of room for some flats, shops, and maybe a small out and back coaster.

I agree with you dude. Although after they level it out, maybe they could open part of that side and maybe have a little walkway to walk through. Maybe add like a some places to play games, have more to eat, etc. So if they do anything to that side anytime soon, they should take out the Monorail. There wouldn't be much use for it if they kept it up. It goes to one side that is completely empty. Now the coaster side to me is fine, what they need though, is to have more lockers, make restrooms more visable, and do something about the main midway. Some Days it's hard to move down that part and get through. Too bad we cannot move things around as easily as you can if this were RCT. You could really make some good changes.

One thing they could do to help alleviate the jam on the Dominator midway would be to move some of the picnic shelters that are next to Grizzly Run -- perhaps out past Raging Wolf Bobs. Then run a path all the way around GR, with a few flats slipped back there. This would create an alternate walkway with some attractions to create more of a circulating-type flow of peeps.

Here's an idea. Take one of the boats and turn it into a little enclosed restaurant. They could moor it along the floating bridge in the middle of the lake. Something to break up that l o n g walk...
