I was just wondering why some coasters have this siding http://www.rcdb.com/3290.htm?p=15825 (look on sides of track). How come none of Cedar Point's rollercoaster have this? Thanks
I believe Goliath goes over a pathway right there. The siding is like a protective net to catch loose articles from falling on the guests below. Cedar Point's Corkscrew actually has something similar just before it's first corkscrew.
You can kind of see what I'm talking about in this picture. It sort of looks like fensing on the side of the track. I'm sure Maintenance uses it to help walk/inspect the track as well.
Diamondback has this as well on its first drop and final helix. It is there to keep flying objects from hitting people on the ground.
