Snake river is staying!

It’s a ride suffering from maintenance issues that has low ridership (especially during cold months),

Heheh, yeah it has pretty low ridership in late September and October. Of course, that is because it's closed. I guess 'months' means just the 2 weeks in May?

Think about why the ride is closed in Sept/Oct... Therefore, "months" means May, Sept, & Oct. If you think about it, SRF is an attraction only appealing for about half the season. This is a point I was trying to make for why I want it to go. It really seems more suitable for a water park to me.

Was White Water Landing closed during the season for low ridership? No...in fact, on a Halloweekends in Oct 05 or 06, I waited over 40 minutes to ride it.

All I'm saying is that I'd love a water ride back in the park that doesn't get me very wet. It gives more variety to the day than just a coaster fest...I'd love a new dark ride as well, but that's a whole other topic and probably not likely for some time at CP. Who knows though...

JuggaLotus said:You argue that it should be removed because a "majority" of people at the park don't want to ride it. I just listed what would remain if we removed all rides that aren't ridden by a "majority" of the people at the park.

Come on, surely you knew what I was trying to say though? Or do you truly read that literally? I try to contribute to these boards because the topics interest me, but now I remember why I just read the last several years. It's frustrating and time-consuming when things get nit-picked apart from what you're trying to say as a whole...

djDaemon said: Do you not understand (bad) satire? I wasn't attacking anyone, nor was I deriding Rapids' opinion on the ride - if he prefers one ride over another, that's fine. But again, that's not at all what I was so viciously "attacking". Rather, I was mocking the idea that wet people on the midway somehow detracts from anyone's experience, as was suggested:

I understand satire very well, thank you. In fact, your "thought stated clearly" was exactly as I took your clever satire. My perspective has not changed...I thought it was rude rather than humorous. Mocking someone is the same thing as an attack to me. Nothing positive comes out of it, and it doesn’t really add anything to a thread.

djDaemon said: You're very clearly stating that because of SRF's being a one-shot-wonder and lack of popularity, it should be replaced. If that's not what you meant, fine, but no one misinterpreted you.

I was misinterpreted, or definition: understood incorrectly. As in, you didn’t understand what I was saying, whether it be I wasn’t clear enough, etc. People started making lists of all rides that should be removed at CP because they were one shot wonders (I’m really sick of saying “one shot wonder” lol). Your example that Wild Cat should be removed because it is a one shot wonder and had lower attendance than SRF…perfect example of you misunderstanding me (and I don’t think you truly misunderstood me but were playing the mocking game like you did with Rapids). While Wild Cat may have lower attendance, that’s attributed to its capacity; it’s a very popular ride with a wait all year long...sometimes over an hour. Why would I want that to be removed? And if you want to be so literal, let’s not forget I was talking about one ride…Snake River Falls, not all rides in the park.

But, it turns out I & several of us misinterpreted what Bill2 meant when he said “one shot wonder” in the first place, so this is all pointless. Thanks for the clarification about Kinzel and etc, Bill2. I’ve already clarified my feelings several times now on Snake River Falls, so there should be no confusion.

The point is that its not objective to use one metric - ridership - as the basis for saying Ride A should be removed, and not apply that to other rides that have similar or lower ridership.

If you're saying that you think SRF should be removed because you dislike it, then that's fine. But its disingenuous to claim that you're basing that opinion on ridership, or on any other objective measure.

I believe the land that srf is on could be better used. I personally don't care for the ride. The ride does close for halloweekends. If you put a good ride in that area that would stay open it would reduce the line sizes of milli and maverick, which is arguably the most popular rides.

Holy Triple Post, Ffej! ;)

You have to understand that mockery is pretty much the bread and butter of Pointbuzz. We all enjoy making fun of each other. And it's mostly in good fun.

I do agree with you about wishing to see a new water ride that doesn't completely soak the riders. There were a great many days at the park I would take a cruise on White Water Landing, knowing that it would cool me down a little, without forcing me to slosh around all day (Haystack Dryer or no), but not nearly as many days that I feel like committing to SRF or Thunder Canyon. I would really like to see that kind of option restored.

Edit: are 'Ffej' and 'the ffej man' two distinct posters in this forum? I'm confused...

Yeah, I've wondered if they're one person as well...

I agree about needing a water ride that doesn't soak you. We've not gone on either SRF or Thunder Canyon in many years, for the simple fact that we'd only do so if we were planning on going directly to Soak City afterward, and we've been visiting in May, September and October in recent years. And as much as I love Maverick, I really miss WWL.

Hold on guys. the other ffej is not me. ask Jeff I'm sure he can check ip's or something like that. the other ffej is way better with his spelling and punctuations. I did kinda find it funny that y'all kinda jumped on him because of his screen name though. I don't want a long you did he did thing going on here. I just made a post and I don't want you all to use your feelings about me against ffej. I think you know if i have something to say I don't hide behind other screen names.

Sorry about the confusion. I edited my post to reflect that it was ffej, not you, that triple posted. (Not that it's a big deal to me anyway.)

We'll just have to keep you guys straight and make sure we rag you for the right reasons. ;)

Thank you. I don't want anyone else to get my ragging on! lol

Haha I'm the original Ffej! I'm glad I locked it down in 2003. Sounds like there are alot of Jeff's on this forum struggling for screen names... ;)

Nice to meet ya ffej. There are a lot of us on here. Now I know who took my first choice. lol.

or you could be creative and think of a completely
different name ;)

Nope I can't everyone calls me ffej it is prenounced fedge. Ok enough with that. Why would they put new wood on the pump house but not even paint the structure?

ok, i'm throwing in my two cents. i love snake river falls. i ride it every year. i also enjoy thunder caynon. if one had to go i would get ride of thunder caynon cause you don't get wet on it. i rode it 10 times last year when i was there because there is no line what so ever and i managed to stay dry all ten times. i then hope on snake river falls a few times and got drenched. it felt good. it feels good to get wet in the hot summer afternoons. i say cedar point should keep both rides and tear down disaster transport. by the way i will be at cedar point on friday and saturday for my anual visit. i live 5.5 hours away and me and 2 of my friends are leaving at 2 am to drive down there. we have a hotel room reserved for friday and saturday night but we didn't want to pay for 3 nights so we are leaving at 2 am. i hope to see and talk to some of you people down there. will anyone be there? is the weather suppose to be nice?

my fav. rides:
1) Top Thrill Dragster
1) M-Force
1) Maverick

I have been visiting CP since Raptor was installed, and did not ride Snake River Falls or Thunder Canyon till this year. I loved them both. The water was ice cold and yet I had the time of my life. These rides must stay in the park, because they are a very different element than roller coasters. I just wrote these rides off thinking they would not be much fun. I was very wrong, and I hope each one stays.

As for a new flume ride, what is the point. They are slow and not very enjoyable.

Bring on a new Intamin!

Ty Z: You stayed dry on Thunder Canyon for 10 straight rides??? I find that hard to believe. I have ridden TC about 10 times in my life and there was only one time where I did not get completely soaked. There's no middle ground on this ride...you either get drenched by the waterfalls or you are one of the lucky few to avoid them...but 10 straight times????

Well I don't recall my streak of staying dry, but whenever I feel the need to cool off Thunder Canyon doesn't do it for me. My odds of getting soaked and slim to none unless I do a marathon session on it. I always end up and get soaked on SRF's.

The last time I was at CP was with my niece and nephew, we rode Thunder Canyon and we rode it about 5 times and still dry without a waterfall shower. So we in-turn rode SRF's. The funny thing about that was we spent the next 10-15 boats on the bridge, as I personally think for my niece and nephew it was there favorite part of the ride, getting hit by the water splash.

Yes! I agree... a new Intamin flume ride would be superb!

We have a plan to secretly remove Dudley Do-right's Ripsaw Falls from Islands of Adventure and re-install it at CP. That's the best dadgum log flume ride ever, give-or-take the new lap bars that make the seats a bit cramped. All we need is a giant dirigible and some stout rope, and to disguise it with some Snoopy theming so the Universal folks are none the wiser.

Back on topic - SRF is a great ride which uses nice, filtered water instead of the brackish stuff from the Lake. Hope it sticks around for decades to come.

Just say no to trims
