I think, to Jeff's point above, the park didn't want to do another "final ride night" for SS, and at this point, are simply going to quietly leave the ride closed until Labor Day, after which they'll begin dismantling it.

I would bet the only reason they're waiting until after Labor Day is because dismantling a 300' tower during park operating hours would not be advisable.

Of course, for all I know, SS could be operating as I type.

I rode it yesterday. I imagine however they plan to remove it isn't as lengthy as DT and can be done later in the season, if not after.

It's still running, I saw it on the webcam yesterday. The article says it'll close around Labor Day.
