Steel Vengeance

^^True. Because everyone’s an expert anyway.

The thing I like about Cedar Point is that they usually run full capacity even on a slow/medium day. Especially for the heavy hitters. Magnum will go to two, Gemini will go to one side, things like that, but I’ve never had the feeling there that they run one train just because they can. Some of my worst busy-day Six Flags experiences involved medium/busy days and long waits because of one train op.

Those who have worked a ride crew will know better than me, but I always thought keeping multiple train operation was actually for the crew’s sake. Company thought might be that if the crew stays busy, even if it involves buckling belts on the occasional empty seat, it’s better over all. One, it keeps the crew used to multi train operation at all times and they won’t lapse into complacency to only be surprised and exhausted on Saturday. It keeps them “trained”, in other words. Two, it eliminates the annoying (for everyone) delay involved with adding or removing trains as the crowd dictates. Three, it also makes for happy riders. There’s nothing better than a little late night, low crowd marathon session on your favorite ride.

And btw, anybody who says Steel Vengeance isn’t the best ride ever needs their head examined. Fury? I-305? Millennium Force? Yes. Great rides. Love em. But they don’t hold a candle to Steel Vengeance, that’s my story, I’m stickin to it, sorry bout it.
I can’t wait to catch my next ride. (Whenever that may be...)

^Based on the updated ride signage, it could be between 4.5 & 6.5 hours after you walk in the gate on your next trip. :)

It has nothing to do with valleying, it's just the timing. There may be a switch up there to signal that it's OK to dispatch, but otherwise, it could dispatch as soon as the lift is clear. If the train ahead doesn't clear the safeties by the time the next train gets to the top of the lift, the lift stops.

The operator says "ready" as soon as the Magnum train makes it over the 2nd hill.

And you should hear the panicked screams every so often from riders who aren’t “ready” yet (still not buckled, etc.) Always gave me a good chuckle when I worked at Magnum 😂

It always amazed me how long it takes normal, healthy adults to sit down and buckle a seat belt.

Find me a doctor then...

I’ve ridden it twice today (5/11). Hoping I can get a night ride on it. Line was crazy first thing this morning, then around 1 I only waited about 30 minutes. Back row on the first ride was amazing, second ride I rode in the back of the 3rd car and it felt tamer (but still wilder then any seat on Maverick). The coaster is easily the best coaster in the park, and it’s not even close.

El Toro remains my favorite coaster, followed by Fury. SV beats out Superman at SFNE for 3rd.

I'm aware of that... it's been that way (or variations of it) for 20 years. Like I said, it's a timing issue, but it has nothing to do with valleying.

One train operations is better than no train operations.

Still one train, chess. Word is they tried Digger this morning before opening with poor results so they went back to the current workhorse. And yes, one train is better than none. Got 3 rides in today I’ll take it.

Park looks like a ghost town on the webcams.
How’s the line for SV at night.

Weather here is miserable. Very strong winds straight off the lake and in the 40’s. We spent the evening at the Surf Lounge. Park looked dead when we just walked back through to the marina. Valravn was a walk on.

Man, running of the bulls for Steel Vengeance must be a madhouse at the front entrance.

As an out of town guy, we usually end up staying at Breakers for part of the trip, and the last few times I've been there we've used the entrance by Magnum. I would prefer to use that when I'm there in a few weeks, as it's much closer to SV, but I won't be parking in that back lot and Shores won't be open yet. I saw mention somewhere on these forums of getting back there via the boardwalk by the beach, but will that actually work? I want to be in the back entrance by 9 obviously, so I'd have to get to the boardwalk before then.

I assume they don't let non-hotel stayers park in the back, though, right? They have that security gate here.

Of course, all of this is moot if they're still doing passes, but it's not like there aren't other great rides there as the best consolation prize ever.

It was running slugish today compared to last weekend. Get a ride on it when its over 80 degrees out and not the morning. It hauls way faster than anything today.

SV ruins all other rides.

It was a tad over an hour. I got two night rides.

Thor, I have seen posts (not sure if here) that the CPS lot has been accessible before 9 so far but that doesn’t mean it will stay that way. Yes the boardwalk is working, no mechanical difficulties reported. :D

Really hoping the school rethinks the CP trip tomorrow. My boys are Scouts so are prepared and used to being out in weather like this all day but I bet a lot of the kids will be woefully unprepared.

I’ll say this: CP sold ALOT of sweatshirts and hoodies today (5/11). You could tell who wasn’t prepared and who was. I had five layers on plus gloves. Note, I’m an Eagle Scout haha

And the boardwalk trick worked for us. Parked in the front lot and took a nice stroll along the boardwalk to the magnum entrance. They’ll let you in the park but not beyond the barricades just after TTD’s tower until it’s open to the general public.

Dropped son off at school this morning. So may kids in jeans or athletic shorts. Oh boy. Son is in all synthetic or wool and has a base layer on. Cotton kills. :D

Going to fill my Zippo 12 hour hand warmers now, those things are incredible. Still have half a box of chemical warms to pass out when I get there.
