The first Maverick Spin-off

Looks like Maverick made a big impact...

What do you think? I think that it looks really amazing. A vertical ascent?! That's ridiculous. Not to mention the "inverted" loop. As far as I can tell, it's going to be a really cool ride. But I still don't think it will be as good as Maverick. There's only one air-time hill, and other than the speed section at the end, it really seems kind of slow. Again, judging a ride based on a computer generated simulation does no justice at all. But if I played both POV's right after eachother, I think I'd still take Mavy. Glad to see that CP has yet again led a small path into the future.

BOO to over the head restraints. Other than that, a great looking ride. That said, this probably belongs over at www.coasterbuzz.com, where it is being discussed at length.

I think the ride has some pertinence here as Intamin obviously decided to utilize much of Maverick's elements.

The ride looks awesome and looks extremely similar to Maverick. The trains are obviously a similarity, along with the drop. The only thing with this drop is you go over it with much less speed than Maverick (or so it looks). So I don't know it will provide the same amazing ejector air. The rest of the course looks pretty Mavericky. They obviously substituted the cobra roll for the horseshoe roll (which I think was a bad idea since the cobra roll is so overused) but it leaves Maverick with more originality. They do come back with the two corkscrews later in the course.

The whole pretzel loop thing with the s-turn and stuff looks great, but frankly the ride looks all to much like Storm Runner. I'm sure it will still be great, but its too bad they didn't chose a more Maverick (close to the ground turns and air-time) route to make it a bit different. In any event, I think Maverick has paved the way for some coasters to come...

It's an Intamin, of course it's going to look similar.

Fahrenheit does not use LIMS, it's a vertical chain lift.

The only thing even close to being similar is the Cobra Roll element. None of the other elements were used on Maverick.

So yes, the track looks the same and so will the trains but that's about where it stops. Again, it's an Intamin and no, it's not a Maverick "spin-off".

Come on Loopy. You should at least give him credit on trying to tie Fahrenheit to Cedar Point so he could talk about it here. :)

This will be close to Maverick for better ride. Maverick has the sweet LSM launch system and the tunnel. But this one is 121 feet, and 97 degrees! lol

size does matter.....(sorry, had to throw that one in there)

Why do other parks always have to copy other CP rides?

ChrisC.'s avatar

Because we have some of the best rides in the world!

ChrisC is right!! Oh, they can build bigger, faster, longer coasters at other parks, and get their ideas from CP, but CP started the trends! :)

I don't see how it's a "spin-off". HP's ride doesn't seem to have the nonstop speed and LSM's aren't even used. Most of all, there isn't a launch. That right there describes Maverick and that ride has none of that.

I still don't understand the hatred of the OTSR. If you just hold on, you'll be fine. I worked the ride for three weeks and all the first time riders loved it. I can't tell you how surprised people are by the ride. Every hour you have someone waiting in line saying, "this ride looks stupid, it's small". They then later come up to me and say, "Wow, I wasn't expecting that."

You have no idea how many times a guest comments on the restraints and how they feel more comfortable/secure than TTD/MF style restraints. I've yet to have a problem with them.

Another thing, I'm guessing Hershey's ride was in development before Maverick was built or at least known about. *** Edited 9/28/2007 1:06:22 AM UTC by Gomez***

I can't wait to get stuck on the vertical lift!

^I'd would have to think that it is run by LSM. Because of that reason. LSM's allow the train to never get stuck on the lift, when a chain can.

^ That's a good point. Especially considering the Hershey one has a vertical lift, I wouldn't want to get stuck on it (for comfort's sake).

In the animation you can clearly see the chain. I'm pretty sure that Mystery Mine also uses a chain, along with all the Eurofighters.

It won't be that big of a deal.

And I'm not exactly sure how this is a Maverick knock-off. What's it knocking off? The box track? The fact that its a coaster? Or has trains that people sit in?

Because its certainly not the lift (LSM v Chain, angles are different).

Its not the elements (Inverted loop v no loop, Cobra Roll v Horseshoe Roll).

Maybe its the color. Orange has been confused for red before. But then the supports are WAY different in color (blue v brown).

So, just what exactly is it ripping off?

1) How could an LSM power a vertical lift? Way too much power needed I would think

2) It's a chain in the video

3) Ive asked on C-Buzz what they would do when it gets stuck and no one seems to have an answer.

Like you all said....I wouldnt want to be up there when it happens.

There animation was from No Limits, kind of funny.

Didn't I say all that stuff way up in the thread already?

This ride is NOTHING like Maverick.

No, I don't think so. Check out the Mr. Freeze coasters. They have LIMs at the top of the tower to give the train a bit more height.

That looks really cool but i agree with Loopy, that it doesn't seem to be similar to Maverick.
