To all Cedar Point Guests...

Hi. I am an employee at Cedar Point. This is my first year working there and there is quite a lot to say. Rides employees work their asses off. I worked in the Gemini Children's Area which was rough. There are rules and restrictions of all rides that we must abide by and enforce. So please, when we tell you that you cannot ride for such and such a reason, just understand and dont give us a big deal about it. We get paid minimum wage, and work about 60-70 hours a week. Right now, the park is only open for weekends. I go to school full time, and I work on friday, saturday, and sunday. I work 40 hours in those 3 days. Thats crazy. We are tired and stressed out, and if you try to argue with us that just makes it that much worse. I think if you understood the conditions in which we live, hopefully you will understand. No alcohol in line? Just say ok and finish it outside the line. Its a rule, we dont know why, but we enforce it, please dont hassle us. Non smoking area? Okay, so put out your cigarette and go to the closest one. Park Operations is located in the front of the park by kiddy kingdom and will gladly accept and complaints and comments.

If you don't want this to be your last year at Cedar Point I would recommend either not posting or handling what are some valid comments with a little more class.

I've been where you are. I understand what you are feeling now after a long, long season. But, if you value your employment then I would encourage you to find a better way to vent.

^I agree. Probably not very smart to post that here, besides most people on this site are not the ones who cause problems, so your complaints will really do no good here.

So true. You won't find the culprits on here. Take your rant somewhere else.

I think shes ok.

She is preaching to the choir about some issues....

Voice these with your superiors too.

I support a lot of things you say. I have seen people in lines with alcohol, and I thought I could bring a beer in, I finished it outside the line politely after being asked to not bring it in.

This shows employees do try to stop many of the things we dislike such as smoking in line.

The rule just isn't spelled out clear enough for people. *** Edited 10/9/2007 8:13:39 PM UTC by factory81***

We do work hard, but like every job, it's what you make of it. I knew about the grueling hours and the conflicts that arise with working with the public. It's a great job if you're looking for something out of the ordinary and you are open to meet tons of new people from around the world. After 2 1/2 months of work, I was very tired, but the only thing I can think of now is when can I go back.

Some of my favorite parts of working were dealing with guests, I liked answering all the dumb and interesting questions people had all summer. I hardly ever had anyone yelling at me, I was mostly always nice about everything. Theres only a couple of times that I remember where I have actually been angry with a guest.

CP doesn't watch this, if they did they would improve upon some of the problems that we note.

If they do, then they just suck because they are like "oh look at what they want, ha ha, thats a funny pipe dream". And watch us complain........

good argument but why are you ranting? People will do what they are going to do, and no sense to lose sweat over it. Some people automatically think the rules dont apply to them, and that will never change. I know how hard some days can be. Ive been there. But dust your shoulders off and youll be alright.

Right. Because they care about some whiny kid who can't follow simple rules.

Minimum wage? Really??? When I worked there 6 years ago it was $7.25 with the bonus. Has CP pay gone down? Has minimum wage gone up?

Like idiots getting in line for a ride when it's closed?

Promoter of fog.

What does that have to do with anything? I live 4.5 hours away, and pay a pretty penny a day to be there, god forbid I try and sneak another ride in.

You say idiot as if we didn't know what we're doing......hahahahah
We just like sneaking another ride in.

Like you guys never did anything illegal in your life. If you guys read the trip reports you could of bashed me for this months ago you know?

Its one thing to do something 'illegal'. Its quite another to whine about getting caught.

^Who is "we?" Is there some underground cult that spends its time planning out how to get in line for rides after Cedar Point closes?

Or is "we" just the "idiots?" :P
