Top Thrill Dragster 2022 Status

Well it's already been mentioned, yellow straps on the supports are a good indication Intamin is the owner. So Zamperla must own the track portion of this project since red straps are used. My preference would have been for Zamperla to own the supports and Intamin the tracks.

How does the reworked brake run track that just arrived at CP look compared to the track that was reworked for PNE Playland? Similar retractable brakes? I wonder if there are any similarities to help us know whether it is Zamperla or Intamin doing this project. When I first saw those brake fins, I immediately thought of Cheetah Hunt too. Either way, I suppose we’ll find out in a week.

Also, I found a picture of the track and supports that are used for the PNE Playland coaster and it looks like similar shear keys are used on the supports that we see on the new supports in the staging area at CP. My understanding is the supports for PNE Playland are the original ones for the ride:

Edited to ask (serious question): What does the color of the straps have to do with who manufactured the new track? Unless that’s a joke and I completely missed the sarcasm :)

It’s a joke.

Ugh the yellow straps are going to be a joke forever now on this site.

Zamperla logo on delivered track? Or just a random marking?

I'm finding it actually somewhat cool and fun that even with all these track deliveries, we don't yet know definitively which manufacturer it is. I guess I enjoy mysteries....

(My guess is it is Zamperla.... and I have no idea what they farm out in terms of switch tracks or other components)

No.

Scooby Doo and the gang are gonna have Zamperla tied up and remove his mask to reveal it was Intamin all along... then Velma says wait a minute, it couldn't have been Intamin, and she removes another mask to reveal it was actually Huss.

And I would’ve gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling enthusiasts.

I wonder when on August 1 we will get the announcement. I tried to see if there was anything from CP about the specific time. If I had to guess I would say mid day.

argues just for clicks

I believe I read an article that states news reporters will have the opportunity to discuss this project with the manufacturer on 8/1.

Does a 4:20PM announcement allow enough time to make the evening news?

^ Speculative time line:

-news crews/reporters get first reveal and press packet/release around 1-2PM. Embargoed until 4:20.

-4:20 announcement is made public in person and/or online. News embargo lifts

I was surprised the support being unloaded (shown in Lake Erie Lifesytle recent video) was nearly the width of the semi trailer. The trailer width should be around 8.5 feet wide from outside edges. The second photo shows the original tophat support taken during a tour I took several years ago. No great way to tell how wide either support is, but it's nice to have my 6'0" cousin standing in front for perspective. I'm sure the support column size can also depend on spacing between supports, new design principles, and a multitude of other factors, so I'm not looking into this too much, but I'm definitely in awe of the amount of effort (and number of truckloads) it takes for this all to come together.

If the spike ends up being ~250 or lower I’m going to be surprised. Someone posted a pic of Pantheon spikes in comparison to these and the size difference is insane.

What's with this talk about the announcement being at 4:20pm? Why not 4:50pm, or 5:00pm, or even 5:55pm?

If anything, we can conclude that the height will not be anywhere between 460-499ft, as it would be impossible to schedule a time for the press release.

You’re joking right? 4:20 is just a reference to the existing top hat

I mean both recent teases about the announcement were at 4:20pm so I think it's safe to assume such talk. 🤷‍♂️

If you look at the latest LEL video, you’ll see that there is a total of 5 of those large support pieces that go into the massive footers. That means 3 of them are for the spike and the other 2 must be for the two footers closer to the station. So I’ll ask those whom keep thinking that the ascension of the track will begin south of the station, I’ll ask this: why would you need such a large support for that area when the pull out isn’t going to be as aggressive your main tower? I’ve been saying this all along and will say it again, the pull out will begin north of the station and go above the station and the spike will be massive. At least 400 feet
