Vertigo being Dismantled

I heard on the radio and confirmed on WTAM 1100 in Cleveland Vertigo is being removed immediately. Also being the removed is the one at Knott's. www.wtam.com has the story. Thought I'd let everyone know.

perhaps dismantled to build anew. start over fresh. who knows.

Sadness :(

If they were to build a new one, why would they take the one down at Knott's as well? They would both have to be defective...

This would be the perfect time for everyone and all their best friends to ask to save vertigo. But sadly, all good things must come to an end. I should have bought a ticket when I had the chance in October.

If this ride does not come back, would it be the shortest time a ride existed at Cedar Point? Granted, it was in Challenge Park.

According to the park, the rides are both going for good. Hopefully, we'll see something else move in, but probably not this year. I only wish I would have got to ride it....

VertiGo (2001-2002)
Gone, but not forgotten.

It was good while it lasted! 32 rides on VertiGo wasn't enough for me!

Well, I knew it was going to happen. I wonder what will go where it is?

I'm guessing they'll probably bring back the kiddie go cart track. For the meantime...

If you get rid of the square wheels on Mean Streak, There will be no mean left in the Mean Streak. Are we going to call it Streak now? KEEP IT AS IT IS!

I just saw it on the news a minute ago. Yes they are taking it down. :( I guess some things just don't work right. Unfortunately, it was VertiGo this time. Designs don't always work out right. I think I am glad that CP is taking it out because it shows how much they care about safety and they sure wouldn't want anything to happen if they replaced that tower. I am not saying it would break again but I think they are doing the right thing.
I don't know what I'm going to miss more Fascination or Veritgo.

I don't think VertiGo leaving is even close to the same level as Fascination's departure, IMO. Sure it's bad news, but it was only there for a short time. Fascination was a 45-year tradition.

Well, now we may all have another reason to visit Magic Mountain. Seriously, this must be a big loss for Cedar Point. I doubt they made the income to pay off the ride's orginal construction costs.

does anyone think six flags might capitalize off of this, and put a vertigo type ride at six flags ohio or whatever the heck it's called now. Considering some peope in this area rode it and loved it. I'd go to six flags then to ride it, i'm sure a half a million people would follow me too........

Well, Cedar Point doesn't have a floorless and people aren't exactly flowing to SFWOA to ride Batman (or much of anything else, according to their attendance figures). I doubt they would see any additional benefit to adding this attraction, above and beyond what they would get even if VertiGo were still around.

SFWoA has height regulations. They can't even get a 210 foot hyper approved, so I doubt they could get a 265 foot structure approved.
They only have height restrictions in only one township. The park is in two townships. I forget what they are It was just a thought. I myself seriously doubt it will happen, but you never know. If it goes anywhere it would be towards the beginning to "Sea World", I think the scrambler is there. I don't, never went there. I tried to avoid the place.
