Water Bombs on Maverick

The freakin water bomb sprayed me right in the eye it freakin hurt, other than that a great ride, and my friend lost her phone its a razor with a green John deere cover on it it was a bummer for her.

Well, at your expense, we know they work. :)

And a sidenote, no one here will have sympathy for your lost phone, as it is a clearly stated policy for most rollercoasters in the park: secure all loose items. And seeing as how it was lost, I'm guessing it wasn't secured.

Country Boy, are you referring to the water bombs or the hose spray in the canyon after the S-Curve?

I also had a friend lose his keys and cell phone on Maverick (see my TR). Definitely secure your loose articles on this one.

As of this morning about half way through Media Day they truned on the Water Bombs. And they are pretty cool. They're timed such that they're going off at about the time the last car of the train is going by. I'm not sure if there is a sensor and where it is or if it is timed with the launch. It is a very cool effect and will make for some neat pictures from the midway.

Hopefully they'll stay on now. I saw them during testing last Friday, and they really look cool. I believe there is a sensor at the end of the trims on the hill after the tunnel.

Well either Maverick is down right now, or they decided to turn off the hose over the canyon as well. I really hope all of these effects don't only last a week or so before they become unreliable...

Well, just after media day ended 8:30+/- there was some kind of power problem. Skyhawk and Maverick were both down. I don't know for how long, because I went over to Millennium before heading to work.

I havn't seen Mav run all day or much over that last few days for that matter. If that hose over the canyon never comes back I don't think many will be dissapointed. That thing looks rediculous, they need to tone it down and turn it into a waterfall. I do hope to see the water bombs, they looked really cool in that video someone posted.

I too would prefer to see it as a waterfall. The little spray of water that hits you in the face is a little annoying.

Like realmadrid said, the water stream thing looks hideous too. Disguise the pipe somehow and just make it a waterfall.

And the ride is running again, and the fire hose isn't on... So things are looking good...

Now... turn on the mist... turn the hose back on, but just enough to make a nice waterfall, and all will be wonderful...

I agree with making it just a waterfall...that would look great. What's the point of a firehose randomly shooting halfway across the pond anyway?

^..Too get wet and for it to look amazing for viewers on the Midway.

Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27

Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini

Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-

The fire hose is far from "amazing". I would call the water bombs pretty sweet, but the fire house is just tacky.

People have also said getting hit with water going that fast is not pleasant.

Josh M.'s avatar

It doesn't really look amazing... it looks like something broke and water is spraying everywhere...

I agree, it doesn't look that "amazing", heh. I think a nice waterfall would look much better and not like something is broken, like Josh said. I'd even go for the Iron Dragon type mist fountains at this point.

You know going through a nice cool mist filled canyon does sound cool. It might make for a cool pic too.

Speaking of Iron Dragon, the humidity at the park made for extra foggyness on Iron Dragon over the water today.
