Water Main

Ugh I wondered why things were closing, I didn't even know this was happening until I came on here. Im sure hoping it's fixed tomorrow as it's the first time we've gotten fast passes. At first when we got to the park it was nice, 5 min wait on gatekeeper and 10 min for raptor, we then caught luminosity and after started to head for the front as my friend was tired from her flight but we stopped at wicked twister before leaving and completely empty. I am still shaking my head, last year my husband and I fit perfectly fine, this year neither him or my friend fit and I only fit after changing seats, I know I haven't gained weight cause I'm even wearing a size smaller clothes. Was worried for tomorrow but we may not even get to the park the way it sounds. Anyone know what the policy is if they are closed and we have used one day of our two day pass and have fast passes, dining and drink bottle for tomorrow?

The lobby at Sandcastle right now is not a happy place. Couple CP security guards here to keep relative peace. I'm trying to figure out the refund situation. Lots of guests checking out right now but the perimeter road is backed up to maverick at the moment. Tough times.

One Twitter user is reporting that water is back on at Breakers. Perhaps this was an easier fix than it appeared. https://twitter.com/osucountry/status/759593813367226369

To state the obvious: don't drink tap water after a water main break until it's ok to do so.

Is the water line itself installed just under the bridge deck, looks like it is from the video on my phone at least. I thought it would have been bored underground from one bridge embankment to the other. If it is under the deck it would definitely be an easier place to get to than underground in that area.

We've been told we have to leave Sandcastle. I just was refunded tonight's and tomorrow night's room cost.

We just left the beach and walked through Hotel Breaker's. There is a huge line of upset guest waiting for refunds. They had been told to evacuate the hotel. We are staying in the campground and have heard nothing. It appears the cabin guest aren't leaving either. The traffic is backed up to the Gemini. When we got back, our water is now back on. So many cars have Pennsylvania, Illinois, & Indiana plates. I'm guessing the the hotels in town will love the situation. $$$$$

Soak City will not be open and there will be no early entry tomorrow. Looks like the park will not be closed tomorrow.

I noticed around 9 that the toilet wasn't flushing well over by Magnum but assumed it was just that one. Not very good pressure in the sink or water fountain either but I've noticed that a couple times this year. Didn't think much of it until they started shutting down rides. At first it seamed employees didn't know what was up at Maverick they just said they had been called and told to close the line and they didn't know why. At that point we noticed the drinking fountains at that end weren't working at all. We caught the train, apparently the last one, and found out when we got off that everything was closing and then an employee blocking the restroom by the trains said it was because there was no water. We got a ride in on Cedar Downs before they closed it and then I sent my kids into the arcade while I waited for the people to clear out. I hate to imagine what the parking lot was like. The arcade, some of the games up front and Park Plaza were still open when we left at 11:50. The parking lot had cleared out by then. There were still some unhappy people at the ticket windows.

The water in the Marina is on as well. Great job to the Sandusky water dept. for either fixing or rerouting the water supply.

Thanks for the updates Pete! You were all over this news item from the first few minutes. It sounds like it has been a fiasco at the hotels on the peninsula tonight. Even if water has been restored, I'm sure they are evaluating how safe that water might be.

Was there with my son. Felt something weird was going on when security was shutting down frontier trail. This was between ten and ten thirty. At that point no employees had any info. Was told at Millenium that all rides were closing but employees didn't have a reason. Unfortunately my first thought was a shooting or something of the sort. Sad state of the modern world. Glad it was just a water main break.

Looks like the park is open today with no Soak City or early entry.

Will the Park stay Open til 11:00pm?

Last time this happened, you didn't have to explicitly ask for a refund if you had a card on file, they just did it.

It's a crappy situation for the park, because it's not their fault, and they're obviously being proactive with the new water tower, but guests don't care who owns the problem either way. It was an enormous disappointment for us in 2014, coming all the way from Orlando, but we made the most of it, and squeezed in a few quality hours that Monday before we had to go.

It has to really suck for people who came a long way. With the passes and only having an hour drive it was just a minor change in plans for us. We still didn't leave until almost midnight. I just kept sending my kids back into the arcade until the crowd thinned out. I'm glad they left that open it was a lot more enjoyable than just sitting in the van waiting for the parking lot to clear out.

If I were Cedar Point I would but all the "amusement tax" money they collect in escrow until the City of Sandusky fixes this problem permanently. This would get the city's attention. I was there in 2014 AND last night.

Well we just left the park and our hotel, this was the worst experience I have ever had at the park. Of course I understand that the water problem is not cedar points fault but the way they were running the park never should have opened. We stayed on property specifically to have early entry and there was none. We inquired at the front desk and had a rude employee that said there was nothing they could do. We go to park and we have a VIP parking pass and again another employee was extremely rude and argued with us that we couldn't park there. We get into the park only to find more than half the restaurants were closed and most of the drink locations. We left and got a refund. So disappointing.

I got there at 9pm yesterday,I've been doing the very late in the evenings in July because of their extended hours. Getting there that late has the main exodus already leaving and the temperatures starting to cool down. Of my 11 July 2016 visits, except for yesterday, everything went well, short lines and cool temps. Knew something was wrong when everything back in frontier town was closing/shutting down. Being that I was at the furthest part of the park from the entrance when things started to go bad,I still managed to pull out of the lot before the main 'evacuation' exodus.

Whether they opened the park or kept it closed, a lot of people were going to be disappointed.
