A long time ago when I was a little squirt; I remember seeing a coaster with a black track. It was either at Kings Island, Geauga lake, or Michigans Adventure. It was a steel coaster; and thats pretty much all I remember. Can anyone help me out? I think it had a loop too.

Both Double Loop and the GL Corkscrew had black track. The 'screw was removed for what is now "Head Spin", and the double loop was painted yellow.

From what I remember the GL Corkscrew was a Dark Blue. Why would they have two coasters with a black track

I'm pretty sure that they were both black.

Why are thare 4 coasters at Cedar Point that have some degree of red on them? ;)

There is a photo of both Corckscrew and Double loop in this brochure from 1987.

The Demon at Kings Island had a very dark brown track as well as a loop. You would have been able to see it from the freeway too.

Double Loop was definately black before it was yellow and

smoke 'em if you got 'em

at one time DL was also white

My signature was edited because it was more than three lines. I'm naughty!

I don't think anybody would have mistook Screamin' Demon for black except under the darkest of days (or perhaps during a solar eclipse). ;)

The Bat at Kings Island was a black steel coaster but it had no loops.

well thank-you for your help :) I know it wasnt the one that resembles CP's corkscrew.

King cobra at KI had black track. They took that out when they build SoB.

^Wrong. King Cobra had green and yellow track. It was one of my favorite rides until they took it out for Delirium. I'll never forgive them for that. RIP King Cobra.

^ I thought they took that out because of safety issues. Didn't a ride just like it cause a fatality or something? Anyway, I miss it too. :(

It's called Millennium Force, not "Millenium" Force. Thanks.

Michigan's Adventure has never had anything steel with a black track.

And Raptor fan I count 5 coasters at CP with Red on them. Maverick, Magnum, Top Thrill Dragster, Mantis, and Iron Dragon. People say Magnum is orange, but I think it counts for your "some degree of Red" statement, because that orange is pretty close to red.

King Cobra was aging, and it was breaking down a lot in the seasons before they took it out. But they installed Delirium the same off-season as when they took out King Cobra. Good ol' Paramount. And when I say good, I mean good for nothing

Hey! What's wrong with delirium?

Dvo's avatar

Don't get me wrong, Delirium is a decent flat ride. But it will never compare to King Cobra, and there were much better places to put Delirium without taking KC out.. (I'm looking at you, Days of Thunder!) All in all, I think KI wanted to take King Cobra out anyway, and Delirium was an excuse to do it. Sad story.
