What Should I do?!?!

I'm going to Cedar Point on Wednesday (July 27th) and I looked at the forecast and it says that there's a good chance of rain. I don't know what I should do, I'm debating whether I should just go and take my chances or go on a different day. I took a day off for work and I kinda gotta go, so I don't know what the heck to do at all. Any suggestions? Sorry mods if this is a bad topic, delete it if so. Thanks.

Just go. You'll have a great time, even if it does rain. Rain can be good, you know. Hang around til it stops and then enjoy a less busy park.

I tend to go on Friday's (my day off from work). When I check weather.com Thursday after work, Thursday night before bed and Friday morning before I leave for C.P., it's not unusual for the forecast to change 3 times. Check the hour-by-hour forecast to see what they predict to have the greatest chance of precipitation. I will always go as long as the ENTIRE day isn't a washout. Go and have fun!

And by the way, in case you didn't know, the zip code for Sandusky is 44870 which is helpful if you use weather.com

It's pretty unusual to have an all-day rain this time of year. The NWS puts the odds Wednesday at 50/50. But even if that verifies, it doesn't mean it will be a washout. I wouldn't sweat it.

RollerNut, deffinetly go. I've been to Cedar Point 4 times and, 3 of those 4 it has rained. Rain never ruins the trip. The first time I went was August 11 and 12, 2003 and it rained in the morning of the second day and ended quickly. The second time it didn't rain. The third time was October 23, 2004 and damn, the rain made the trip so much better. It was Halloweekends at the time and the rain started around 3, and continued throughout the day, but very lightly. As it got dark the was very misty and foggy so it made the Halloweekend atmosphere so much better, it was probably my favourite trip. The last time I went was May 24 and it rained shortly after we arrived, while we were in line for Millennium Force and it just poured (we were under a shelter at that point in line, it worked out well). The rain made a lot of people leave line. After we got out ride the rained stopped and the rest of the day was beautiful. Weather forcasts can hardly be reliable because for the week before we went this past May, I checked and it changed from sunny, to cloudy, to rainy, to stormy, back to sunny. I wouldn't cancel a trip because rain is forcasted. Go for it and have fun.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

GO! it will probably end up to be overcast with light rain.

Go to the Rides & Ride Policy FAQ section. Then go about 5 questions down.

Sorry, I couldn't get a link that goes right to the question:)

I remember days when you could look across the bay at a hellacious storm over Sandusky but have bright skies at the Point. And vice-versa. We had a rule to take with you to work whatever you didn't need in the morning, because chances are you'd need it by evening.

Point weather is changable. Some of the best days I've spent as a guest were when it rained steady in the morning and cleared up for late afternoon and evening. You get a nice clean park and smaller crowds, for sure.

I'm the oldest one here. CP emp '73-'74

If I were you I'd go. I went to CP on May 14. It was cloudy and sprinkled all day. At about 5 it cleared up. None of the rides really close except maybe the Dragster. I had a blast that day going on all the kick *** rides. Go and have fun. Don't worry about the weather!

Weather nerd to the rescue. It definitely shouldn't be an all day rain. A cold front is passing through the area Wednesday which may trigger a line of strong to severe thunderstorms. Should these storms fire up, more than likely they will close down the high rides, but once they pass the humidity should drop along with the temperature... and if things follow the normal pattern, the crowds will drop too... I would say go...

A fast rain is sometimes a good thing. I was staying at Disney last year and had a couple of these. It sends most of the people running from the park to get back to their hotel. Just stand in a shop and take advantage of the short lines when it stops. Also, if there is no lighting, you can take a couple of rounds on Thunder Canyon, since you will be wet anyway.

If it's really hot and muggy outside the rain also cools things off nicely and makes it much more enjoyable.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

Thanks guys! I'm just gonna go on Wednesday. I haven't looked at the forecast since Saturday and I don't plan on it!!! Looking at the forecast just ruins my excitement. I wanna ride that tight*** Top Thrill Dragster and Wicked Twister over and over again! That's what I'm worried about not being able to do because of rain closing them down. Hopefully it will be a great trip.

Remember, this is Ohio. The weather changes every 15 minutes. :)

Go to CP and have fun.

Trent

I'll be there tomorrow, rain or shine! And if I'm going, you should be too!

I just got back everyone, thanks for all your suggestions. It did rain yesterday for like half the day and it was pretty cold. It was an ok trip, but it was probably my worst. I definitely had fun though. I did get to ride Millenium Force and Top Thrill Dragster, which I was very surprised that I got to ride the Dragster because it kept breaking down while I was in line. The lines for everything were so long it was rediculous. The worst thing about this trip was when I was waitin in line for the Raptor and it broke down RIGHT WHEN IT WAS MY TURN TO RIDE!!! I waited in line for like two hours for this thing, then I decided to back out because it didn't look like it was going to be fixed very soon. Right when I got outta line it opened up!!! I was so pissed. Anyone else had problems with CP yesterday? I go hear like 3 times a year, and I never had a problem with CP! I still love it to death though.

Sorry to hear you waited 2 hours for Raptor. I noticed it was stopped in the MCBR so I walked over and hung around the entrance to the ride. Within minutes it was back up and running, and I waited only 30 minutes to ride.

I had a walk-down on Iron Dragon yesterday! I got a ticket that allowed me to get on any ride of my choice with out waiting! Well, other then dragster. So I got on Millennium Force with out waiting. Pretty Cool!

The rain was sweet yesterday morning, I waited only 10 minutes to ride Millennium Force! Then only 15 to get on Mantis. Then the sun came out...and so did the people. But over all it was a fun day!

By the way RollerNut, how long did you wait for Dragster? I got in line around 7 and it took about an hour and a half to get on...which was my longest wait of the day.

I waited about an hour for the Dragster, which ALSO broke down when it was my turn to get on to ride! Man my luck!
