Where will Steel Venom End up?

Does anyone have any information on where this ride will eventually end up? I know it has been noted that it will be put in storage for use at another park. But, that has got to be a lot of $ on the books that isn't doing anybody any good in storage. It can't be planned that it stay in storage for very long if they waited this long to remove it. Otherwise they would have been better off leaving it where it was until it the other site was ready. Or is it possible that GL just wants the land cleared now so they can use it for something else?

I believe in the Michigan park not sure though I bet other people know if its true or not.

Yep. Geauga Lake doesn't have enough grass. Although I'm betting on weeds and piles of dirt for this season. :O

What's the point of having a non-functioning ride standing in your park? All it does is lead to questions and complaints from park guests.

I'd like to hope that its going to Michigan's Adventure, but I've not heard any evidence to support that.

Jugga, please tell me you're not so delusional to think there is even a remote chance SV is going to MiA? The last place it's going is your neck of the woods. Sorry, my little Michiganderian friend.

It's pretty clear that Dorney will get it. See also: http://www.tideblue.com/blog.asp?e=126

So a (bad) photoshop of the ride being put where the author of tideblue thinks it should go means that Dorney is getting it?

That's got less credibility than my hopes for it to come to Muskegon.

Actually, that photo is a mock-up. The supporting statements are the reasons it should go to Dorney, aside from the moved height variances and additional power lines that the park added this year. To be honest, it makes perfect sense to me. I would be very surprised if it didn't happen.

That photoshop job is awful!! But, with the things I've read (who knows if they're true) about the park getting a new electrical feed, and two small point of raised height restrictions, it seems Dorney is a likely candidate for Steel Venom.

I think it would be a great addition to that park. Its already got almost every other ride Cedar Point does (albeit on a smaller scale), so they might as well keep the trend going.

Asking for height restrictions to be raised in two small areas to the height of Steel Venom kind of gives this one away. Nothing official, but that basically shows you their intentions.

I'm guessing Dorney for that one. They ran a high-voltage power cable into the park a few weeks ago, and it happens to go right to a long, narrow section of land. Not to mention the fact that they recently requested zoning permits for 2 towers (spikes) that are close together...

That surprises me they're not just going to scrap the ride. Why bother moving it?

Uh, because its still a great ride. It just needs a good home that can afford to maintain it. I'm guessing its cheaper for them to repair whatever broke on it last year and move it to Dorney (or wherever) than it would be to buy a brand new one from Intamin. So, a park in the chain gets a previously owned ride for less than a new one and they can call it new. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Would you have just thrown away X-Flight too?

That image was done by me. It was meant to be a joke that I made in about 5 mins, not a realistic photoshop. I had no idea that other sites would jack it and then present it as if it were anything more than a laugh.

Anyway, just a fyi - someone who went to the actual meeting for the zoning request said that Dorney literally showed a picture of Steel Venom at Valleyfair! to the zoning board to give them an idea of their plans.

If that isn't proof enough after all this I don't know what is.

I wonder how many people are really going to walk all the way to the deserted old water park, and grassy fields where two coasters and mr hydes use to be just to ride head spin. That should have been the coaster to go first....

I guess. I heard the repair bill was high, but I didn't have any real good sources. Just hearsay more or less.

I would question wether or not they ever finished repairing it.

Headspin barely got any ridership in the first place. I know we won't be going out of our way to ride it.

I still stand by my idea that the park wants to go back to the original entrance under Big Dipper and give the park an "old" feel to attract people back that haven't been there for some time.

Am I blind? What should I see in that pic you linked to?
