White Water Landing: Gone!

First DD now WWL, wow they're really making a good effort to destroy the family angle of the park.

The Amazement Park

Geeze people, have some faith. You know they're going to replace these rides with something just as popular. Just more updated.

I'm not sure I'd call Demon Drop a family ride.

Right on...

I would think that the CP management is at least as smart as most of us, with a better understanding of the entertainment industry. Thats not to say they haven't made their share of mistakes, but I'm sure they've thought this through. It wouldn't be necessary to remove WWL for the '07 attraction, when they could just build around and over it. Logic would dictate that something of similar family-pleasing caliber will be in store for us.

Keep hope alive...

Brandon

Yes, Let's keep hope alive. WWL is a great ride, it should not be removed (nothing we can do about it)

Just hope it's not more snoopy branded things (I think that is getting slightly diluted. Cedar Fair has added Snoopy to most (if not all?) of it's parks now. Hey kids, let's go to Cedar Point and see Snoopy, or, Hey kids, Let's go to Geauga Lake and see Snoopy again....

Let's hope it's not another restaurant!

Mill Race: Replaced by Raptor

WWL: Replaced by ??

It is hardly fair to judge this action without knowing the full story (ie. what comes next). Saying this is bad is short-sighted when for all we know they could be building a new family dark ride or water ride or family flat rides or 500' coaster. We just dont know.

I enjoyed the ride, and it looked great where it was. I wont get upset about it, I have a feeling they may do something great with that space.

So is the consesus that they're still putting a superswing or whatever in it's place?? Because that just doesn't seem a worthy replacement!

WWL was the first ride I remember riding at CP as a kid. I still remember being told by my parents "you won't get wet" and how that nasty little water trickle always got me, lol. And the drop was so huge when I was a kid!

I still try to goad my friends into riding it each time we go. Sadly, I won't have any more chances. CP needs to replace it with something of equal or greater value...you need a mild flume ride to just take a break on later in the day. Adding another flat is just not the same!

People complained when Schwabinchen was removed, but no one rode it when it was there.

I agree with everyone about how wonderful it was to ride this ride; it was truely a treat at anytime of the day or year. From the moderate themeing to the ride up through the trees and beyond, this ride had everything. As many have already metioned, it isn't a ride like Snake River or TC where one expects to get soaked, just a nice relaxing journey. The trees and how it fits into the frontier area is perfect, easily seen from the midway. My mom loves to ride it, even my grandparents who are 77 and 78 went on with me, a true family experience. To say the least I am very dissappointed; its not all about filling the park with the biggest and the best. I can understand demon drop, but this one is kinda upsetting, sorry to be so negative.

With that said, I can't see cp putting something big in its spot for next year. The removal and everything else would take far too long. Remember how in 2002, work on the TTD could be seen as early as September and the bottom half of its main structure was already up by the end of Halloweekends. They would have to quickly remove all of WWL and start construction at an unbelieveable pace which I don't see happening. Can't see no watercoaster, don't know where everyone is getting that, but I do see 500 for 2007 (my opinion of course).

Why not take out mean streak? There is plenty of land right there. I dont think as many people would be upset.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

That's truely sad that White Water landing is going. I've gotten only three or four rides on it, but thay were great. ;) *** Edited 10/13/2005 6:08:16 PM UTC by Daniel Smith***

Right... they could take out a few garbage cans, and people would still get upset.

People are getting it, because Kizel publicly stated that the park had considered adding a water attraction to that area of the park last year, but chose maXair instead. It would also be much more logical. I think we would all like to see 500' but most of us should be able to clearly see that it is not going to happen, lets be logical here. I can't think of one good reason why CP would consider building a 500' coaster anywhere in the next 7-10 besides the record. I havn't even heard one peice of rumor supporting this coaster, except for people online guessing, because of magnum, millenium and dragster. They have tall and fast coasters, why not do something new?
I think they will add something that ties in with the area well, like a water coaster, maybe a GCI coaster, but with MS so close by I would kind of be suprised, unless they also planned on removing MS after 06. I also think they may go for a multi inversion coaster, possibly one that breaks the record of most inversions. Whatever it may be, I am sure CP will oull it of nicely.

Take our Mean Streak and one would expect a roller coaster or similar non-family ride. Take out WWL and one would hope to see a similar family ride in it's place.

I bet that 10 years from now, Frontier Town will cease to exist. Along with Kiddie Kingdom and the Playground. We will still have Snoopy to see though...

I feel like a loner here, but I personally dont think I will miss WWL. I go to the park numerous times a year and have probably ridden it twice in the past decade. When I was a little tike, I loved it, but now it's rather...well...shall we say, past its prime?

I also hope they don't replace it with another water ride. CP has a boat ride, a "rapids" ride, and Snake River Falls.

I'll take one mega-giga-hyper coaster in Frontier Land, please.

CP cannot be everything to everybody. No park can, or ever will. Walt Disney is great for families and theme, but crappy on big thrill. Kings Island is awesome (the best, no doubt) for families...especially families with little kids, and they are only getting better next year with a great addition. What CP has become is what they claim to be: America's Roller Coast. The "Roller Coaster Capital of the World".

With that said, I would actually argue that CP has a great selection of rides for the whole family, for being the Roller Coaster Capital of the World.

I have good memories of WWL, but people, you gotta let go, especially in the name of progress.

Ummm... besides the record?

Holding a world-record attraction is a pretty good marketing point(if done correctly - which CP didn't do with TTD), especially for CP. I mean, c'mon... if CP waited 7-10 years from now, that would mean they'll have waited 10-13 years between height records.

I just can't see any reason why not to build another record-breaker before then...

Brandon

I can think of a reason. "We have seen a decline in family visits to the park", or something to that affect that Mr. Kinzel reported when choosing to lower park admission for seniors and juniors.

I think the higher they go the smaller the demographic becomes of people who will be interested in riding. Heck...after riding TTD I'm not sure I would want to go any higher/faster. That may have been enough for me. And, I'd still rather ride Magnum or MF anyway..and I consider myself a pretty rabid coaster nut.
