Who will get what?

I would bet that CP receives a used ride (but not a coaster) from GL in 08.

And I bet they get TWO items from Geauga Lake, perhaps one being a coaster. Why buy new when you can get it certified used! Haha. You know those things depreciate the MINUTE you run the first train :-P I think with Geauga Lake closing, no one can say for sure what 2008 holds until it's officially announced.

People keep saying Cedar Point is too good for "hand me downs". Well, I would find it quite noble of Cedar Point to save a great rollercoaster (Dominator) that would otherwise SBNO at the former site of Geauga Lake next year. But that's just me. Do you really want another Intamin that breaks down every five minutes or a built tough B&M that has proven it's reliability? *** Edited 9/28/2007 7:10:56 PM UTC by airee85***

Dominator is going to KD.

Ride on, MrScott!

^ I agree, I saw two spots where it would fit and it fits in nice with the roster.

just to clarify, when top thrill ryan and I were talking about wildcat, we were talking wolverine wildcat at MiA. There's a ton of empty space behind it.

Michigan's adventure is a park that needs something new........big time. When I was there, I just looked and said that might as well just have shivering timbers and nothing else, because that's the only coaster that is worth going to ride. I feel bad for the park, and I understand why most of the people at CP are from Michigan.

MiAdv does not need to turn into Geauga Lake West.

Could they use something new? Sure. But not just anything. Their best asset has been that everything is well planned.

Plus, MiAdv is not an amusement park with a water park.

Its a water park with an amusement park.

Goodbye MrScott

^ I agree. I think 1 coaster from GL is very reasonable. Two might be OK, but probably not. more then that isn't going to happen - most likely.

I would love to see Batman take the spot where Mantis stands. I just don't care for Mantis and find it painful on my knees for some reason.

Just stating my opinion, I know it would never happen obviously. Batman is a far better ride than Mantis.

Yes Coasterdad I think Jeff said it all with his "say who"

I don't mind used rides as long as they are good, I am no snob.

I'm not saying MiA should be GL of the west or try to compete with CP, it's just that the only halfway decent steel coaster is this corkscrew from the 70's or 80's. It's just that all the other parks get at least one nice coaster every 2 to 3 years, or a nice flat/thrill ride every now and then. But when I went to that park, it in my opinion needed something new. Now, that chaos broke down there and they took it out and didn't replace it with another ride. I should have just drove all that way to ride ST and then left. That was the only fun coaster there.

Well, they added Funnel of Fear for 2005. Grand Rapids for 2006. They reworked some of the midways for this year (over by Mad Mouse and the Ferris Wheel).

Grand Rapids was (I think) an 8 million dollar ride. I could see them getting as much as 10 million for a new ride, but you won't see more than that. The park draws from a fairly small market and it draws really well, but its not on the same scale as some of the other parks that have gotten substantial coaster investments in the last couple years (Hydra and Patriot come to mind).

Goodbye MrScott

^^I'm sorry you feel that way about MA. It's a great park. It's the perfect starter park for young kids. Every year my son can ride something new and he doesn't get overwhelmed by a huge park. The whole family can have a lot fun. I would love to see a new or used coaster go in but I won't stop going if they don't. So don't feel bad for the park, it has a good thing going for it.

I would not be a bit surprised to see CP get a hand-me-down from GL.

They just spent a boatload on maverick, and typically they follow a big expenditure with a low-cost capital improvement the next year. They could add a ride or two this offseason on the cheap from GL.

Personally, I would like to see Villain moved to CP. No secret they need a good woodie- it is the gaping hole in their coaster lineup.

As I understand it, CP management has avoided woodies due to maintenance costs. Villain's steel structure should offset that concern to a large degree.

If Cypress Gardens can move and reinstall the Starliner on the cheap, I would think it would be easier and cheaper to move a hybrid woody a short distance.

Put Villain on the beach somewhere near Oceana and WT, and it would be great!

While we're at it, at least tear down the ugly building around DT. Better when it was avalanche run. That section of the park could be beautiful with a woodie and that ugly superstructure around DT removed.

I'm pretty sure the structure was built for a reason.

I would like to see some infrastructure of GL used at MIA to help in the next expansion. Food equipment, restaurant equipment, games, benches, flat rides. There is a lot that can be done without necessarily adding a roller coaster to the park. Adding to the atmosphere by utilizing relics from GL will help rather than building and buying new. MIA has the attendance numbers to support the next phase based on what I have seen reported the last 2 years. Of course I have not seen a same park revenue breakdown for this park so I can't tell how much the attendance has helped in relation to spending. Anyone seen those numbers on a per park basis?

GLT just posted Saturday pics of removal of Dominator. None of the disassembled parts have left the parking lot yet according to the forums.

That's because they have to wait for Cedar Point to close to put the parts there. KIDDING ;)

Looks like its official, Thunderhawk will make its way to Michigan's Adventure.

Man - Who did their renderings? They look scarily realistic. :)

Lets not downgrade MiA,its all we have here in the state of Michigan, and its a great park, compared how it looked several years ago, when it was called Deer Park Funland.A lot has changed to it in years, and im glad Cedar Fair bought it when they did. :-)
