Why do they keep lights on during the off season?

Hopefully Ohio residents aren't as dumb as those in Michigan's thumb.

Brandon

The lights are on cuz the security guards are going to have a party.

If you see lights on by maxair, then every one should know what is going on there. :)

How does it make someone dumb if they don't want to look at an ugly windmill?

Apparently it's ok for people to have objections to HAM radio antenna towers based upon them 'looking ugly'. Why not envirowackowindmills?

Because windmills are awesome and HAM radio antennas are ugly? :)

So, you are saying that someone would be stupid enough to sneak into Cedar Point during the offseason and at night, and then try to sue the park because they fell down because it was too darkto dork to see? I know there are some frivolous lawsuits out there, but I doubt this has even crossed the minds of CP management.

Its' unfortunate that lawsuits have been won that were much more frivolous than that and yes, people would be dumb enough to break in.

Griffin Sandusky Airport is a stones throw to the east of CP on the bay. I believe there are shuttle flights to the islands but I'm not certain of this. Some of the stuctures at CP are tall enough to warrant the flashing lights you see on radio towers and the like for air traffic safety, not just for Griffin traffic but air traffic in general. I believe this is what Mr. Cedar Point is referring to.

Then that would be a simple yes. It's been discussed that all the rides over 300 feet are required to have to have a light on top at all times.

It made it seem like they're lighting the midways for that reason which is stupid. 400 feet is low for a plane, even for how close the airport may be.

Hey Craig, I was only refering to Mr. Cedar Point's input and he obviously was referring to the flashing lights on MF, TTD, PT and whatever else is required to have them. Hey, it's OK, I did not intend to offend you, I only wanted to clarify what I interpreted as a legitimate input to the discussion. :)

I'm not offended, but some people on here don't think before they type sometimes.

Nice apples:orangutans comparison there. ;)

I just think it takes an incredibly short sighted person to complain about the visual 'pollution', while not caring about the invisible, yet infinitely more harmful pollution cause by fossil fuel power plants.

Brandon

Maybe they'd rather have a power plant in their neighborhood that burns coal to make electricity. Or, maybe they'd rather have a nuclear power plant. Better yet, maybe they'd like to live without electricity.

That weird Al Yank song about the Amish comes to mind.....

I wish we had more Nuclear power plants, and I'd more than welcome one next door to my house.

I don't mind coal either. I'm not really inherently against windmill farms, I just think they're ugly and taking our attention off the fact that we really need to build more nuke plants.

Gomez: You would be shocked how low planes do fly over at times. When I was working with Life Flight we would fly at or around the 300 to 500 foot window when we would get close to the airport. I have pictures from our flights at 450 feet over Cedar Point.

Plus I can remember many times we would look up at the tower and go WOW that was close. I am sure many TTD crew members could tell many stories about low flying aircrafts.
