Wicked Twister- next on the chopping block?

Wicked Twister has been around since I was a small child. Seeing it disappear from the CP skyline would make me sad, in all honesty.

It's probably a good thing they're getting rid of a ride that valleys every cycle.

I remember watching construction webcams in school instead of doing school work.

Here's a possibly insane, but possible idea. What if they're replacing Wicked Twoster with a Sky Rocket II with dual loading stations like Zombie Ride?

The area between WS and Gatekeeper hasn't been touched since Giant Wheel moved there in 2000, I think.

The midway changed when Calypso/Tiki Twirl was moved.

If we're speculating on just this facebook article, it doesn't sound to me like WT will be moved. It seems like they're just using a picture of WT to give people an idea of what it will be (like CPVet was saying). Why would it say it will be "+/-225 feet", when WT is exactly 215 feet?

I for one love Wicked Twister. I love the way it looks by the beach and for me it doesn't look that intense. But once I ride it, it becomes one of the rides I'm most afraid of, not quite sure why, but I do love it. I hope it doesn't go away anytime soon, but I also know CP is always trying to bring bigger and better to the park.

Wicked Twister is a bit taller then 215 feet. It takes riders up 215 feet. So with the barriers at the top, it probably is close to 225 feet. Cedar Point would have nothing to lose by taking out Wicked Twister, except the world's tallest inverted roller coaster. They would still have the most roller coasters in one park over 200 feet.

The towers are 215', not 225'... RCDB and Wikipedia both list the height as 215' and the drop as 206'. They can't make the claim that they take riders up 215' because:
- the train doesn't go all the way to the top of the tower. I think it used to go a bit higher than it does now, but even then it was never designed to hit the bump stops.
- not every rider gets to the max height. Only the riders in the front or rear will achieve the maximum height. The riders in the middle aren't even close to 215' at any point.

Yeah that makes it such a disappointing ride.

Who said anything about disappointing? I was just arguing against CP ARC's height stats. I love Wicked Twister. I always say it's the most underrated ride at CP.

If you weren't referring to my post, kindly disregard this rant.

Because +/- means give or take a few feet.

To me Wicked Twister was always a last minute knee jerk reaction to the SFO opening. It opened 2 years after S:UE opened at SFO and seemed to be Kinzel's attempt to one up the park. Which honestly wasn't necessary. I never really enjoyed the ride as I was always a fan of the straight rear spike and the holding brake. So it honestly wouldn't surprise me if it was relocated or removed. It would open a decent sized plot of land if they also removed the stadium for the long rumored and enthusiast wet dream beach front woodie. Will this happen? I guess we will wait and see.

Personally I would love to see Corkscrew removed next. To me the park could use something like a Mack spinner or a launched family coaster like FireChaser Express at Dollywood. Those types of rides would fit perfectly where Corkscrew currently is. I know the corkscrews over the midway are "iconic" but I have faith that current park management could do something just as iconic with a new, modern ride.

My kids ride Wicked Twister but honestly I have no attachment to it. It could be there or not be there. Given the choice I think I would actually keep Corkscrew over Wicked Twister.

I really like Wicked Twister but I agree that it was a knee jerk reaction to SFWoA. Matter of fact, I think someone here made a funny comment after it was built saying "it's like CP hoisted two big middle fingers on the beach pointed at Aurora".

Given the three year gap, I assume TTD was planned right after MF opened, and WT was added in between as an after thought. It is a fun ride and fits in well along the beach, but I was never crazy about it.

A few have mentioned about demolishing the stadium and relocating Kiddie Kingdom in that area, which doesn't sound like a bad idea. Another option, if WT and the stadium are removed, is to build a replica or something similar to the old Cyclone.

Yes. I'm aware.

But if CGA were to be getting WT, they would be getting a "215-foot coaster", not a "+/-225 foot coaster". There can't be a "give or take a few feet" if the ride is already designed/built.

The footers will affect the height as well. If WT was designed for a flat chunk of land, they could raise footers to compensate for uneven terrain, which could make it a bit taller. Or not.

Is it not out of the question that CGA might just simply build a brand-new Intamin Impulse Coaster instead of getting an old one from another CF park? I ask this because there seems to be a park in China that's building one this year (twisted on both ends, no less).

If Wicked Twister leaves I will be completely devastated. By far the most underrated ride in the entire park IMO. I ride it several times each visit and I love it. The launch packs a punch, it provides a nice deviation from the typical coaster, and it looks really cool as well. Take out Gemini, Mine Ride, Or Corkscrew and I wouldn't shed a tear but the loss of Wicked Twister would hurt real bad for me.

2018- Raptor

CP Top 5- 1)MF 2) Maverick 3) Gatekeeper 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor

I've been to Cedar Point about 4 times for multiple day stays over the last 7 years or so, and just finally last summer rode Wicked Twister. I have a tendency to get motion sick on spinning type rides and for some reason felt that Wicked Twister would cause a big problem with that, and it just intimidated me. Damn I have been missing out! I loved that thing, and cant wait until my trip this year to get on it again. I think it looks great right there on the beach front. I'd be bummed if it got moved, but not surprised. My trip this year I was there for 3 full days and I never saw a line for it more than about 10-15 minutes. That seems like low ridership for such prime real estate.
