Will Shoot the Rapids take some of the crowd away from popular rides in 2010?

I think it could affect the crowds at Maverick and Millennium Force for two reasons... one because it is right in between the two rides and two it will be brand new. Im thinking the ride might decrease the crowds by Millennium and Maverick (basically what im saying is shorter lines). Then there is also the fact that cedar point is always full of people wanting to ride. I wanted to see other peoples opinions.

I wouldn't count on it cutting down lines much. It's a completely different type of ride. If anything it will cut lines down at Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon, not at the coasters.

A good example of this is Pilgrims Plunge at Holiday World. It did not pull many people away from Voyage last year.

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

I agree with you. It will probably take some of the crowd away from the lines and might make it about 5-10 minutes shorter but don't expect much. However, my guess is that SRF and TC will be walk-ons for most of the season.

Thats what I was thinking but I just thought that when people hear that theres a new ride they want to try it the most thus creating a huge line for the new ride... Just like Maverick in 2007.

Your mom is to fat to ride TTD.'s avatar

Maverick doesn't get you soaked like STR is the point. And if anything it might add ridership to other close rides because its bringing more people to the back of the park.

Let's Get Weird.

I would think that it would increase the ridership of Thunder Canyon and SRF. I don't think it will effect the coasters.

I don't think it will affect coasters.. also, it's still pretty cold up there, dunno how many people are gonna be wanted to go on the water rides..not me that's for sure.

First time to Cedar Point was opening day 2009, 7 hours in line for TTD, 2 rollbacks =)

I doubt it will make any difference until the temperature hits 85 or so, and even then it will have a minimal impact on Maverick/MF lines.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Top Thrill Dragster is sinking...

I would agree that it would increase the ridership on Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon, rather than decrease it. Some people (myself included) would not want to get wet for just two mediocre water rides, even on a hot day. But with a brand new fun water ride I am more likely to ride it, and then the other two.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Based upon my habits when I was younger, it might bring a slight increase to the rides in question.

I used to go on Gemini and MS to "dry off" after going on the water rides durring my class trips / summer trips.

Not saying this will be the case, but since more people will be in the area due to a new attraction it is a possibility.

Beeeeehhhhhhh!!!!!
