Will you ride Shoot the Rapids if it open back up?

It's still closed. They have the state inspect it once a year. But I think that is misleading. I am sure they have to go through a check sheet everyday before they let anyone on it. We will soon know what happened.

I'm not underestimating what happened and all that stuff, but I'd ride it again.

I would ride it again too. I'm sure whatever happened Cedar Point will make sure it's fixed before it reopens. Hopefully they don't remove Shoot the Rapids. I'm worried about that a little.

I probably wouldn't ride it again and its not because of the accident. The ride was just plain boring and looks a lot better than it is!

^^totally agree^^

I probably would until a second accident were to happen so soon, then I would say no. Just like I am right now with Windseeker, and I even love that ride.

No, it was a boring ride to begin with.

I will, only if they find an alternative for the lap bars

If I liked it in the first place then yes, but since I'm not a fan of it, then no.

Locking lap bars are not a good idea/concept on water rides for rider safety. Doubt I would ride after this incident unless that aspect is changed.

Probably not. Not worried about safety I just have always hated the ride

I didn't have a huge amount of interest in riding it again after the first time.

I've never rode it. But I might eventually ride it. The thing is, it's going to be one of the safest rides now because of all the work done. They're going to make sure this thing is fail proof. You're probably going to be in more danger riding any other ride there.

I look at it this way,..
Ride-SRF- TC-STR
Sensors- 6- little to none- ALOT
Restraints- single position lap bar that can be slid out of-seatbelt-locking bar
Ride experience- fun short splash-Nice rapids ride-boring "family" ride that takes 6 minutes

Overall, Intamin has lost it's water rides touch. SRF & TC are better than STR. And both are safer. Look at the rides from the eighties and nineties that have few sensors and safe restraints that could be undone if needed (as in capsize). And TC is also more family friendly. If a kid who is 47" inches wants to get wet but his rents don't, he can go on TC. But he can't on STR without his parents. SRF wasn't meant to be that family friendly.

And just look at what getting over complicated has gotten us. STR fell down a hill when SRF didn't ( and also the boat on the ramp wasn't the rides fault, it was the ops fault as the water level was to low for the ride to run with all the weight in the back) and the water ride without even being locked to the lift hasn't fallen down the slippery wooden planks.

Rant over with my answer being no. The ride sucks. I EVEN HAD TO RIDE IT FOR 4 HOURS DURING COMMERCIAL SHOOT ( blue shirt guy in front)

Leave the hypercoaster alone

Agree with everything above..except ops don't control water levels for snake...they just operate the ride, you won't see them out there with a meter stick measuring water depth :D

Who are you to question rollerdog11's astute and comprehensive safety systems analysis? Clearly, he's more than qualified to make such judgments. After all, he was in a COMMERCIAL SHOOT!
