Did someone sneak into the Rougarou media event or was there an incident? I was there and didn't notice anything unusual.

Darn, looks like I can't go this year; I'll probably be in Oregon that day.

If you can go, and if you're a Cedar Point übergeek or ultra-fan (and if you aren't, what are you doing on this site? 8-) ), it can be a whole lot of fun. Last year we got great Christmas card-worthy views of the park, an update on what the park was up to, and some interesting presentations from the maintenance team. With an all-new coaster going up for this season, who knows what surprises might be in store?

Last winter, the park put a whole lot of time, effort, and manpower into the event and showed us all a great time under relatively challenging conditions. The event was worth the price of admission; that the park turned around and donated that admission price to a worthy cause was a very nice bonus.

I'm going bright and early at 8am. I'm hoping to get some good outdoor pictures on my camera and phone and really excited to see what they have planned.

I also was at the Rougarou media day, and honestly I didn't think enthusiasts were needed for any reason. They don't need to fill the trains with people and they get all the interviews they want with official park reps. It was a fun experiment, but I just don't see the benefit for the park.

I'm just glad someone who shouldn't have been at the Rougarou media event doesn't seem to have a presence at Cedar Point often anymore. Makes me quite happy.

I cant measure the benefit, but my wife and I were interviewed by 2 different stations about our thoughts on the new ride and the changes to the park for 2015. Sometimes its good to get the general public's opinion of something as opposed to people who are paid to promote their product. Was it beneficial to the park, only they know that, but as an enthusiast, I was honored to go and share my thoughts on the ride. Plus interacting with the CP staff is always fun.

I think there's definitely an energy to the big open media events, and I admit that I was skeptical it would really add anything. Whether or not that translates to wider/better press coverage I don't know, but I'm positive the parks know, as they measure that sort of thing. It probably doesn't hurt in the voting for various polls and what not either.

Question, if WCO attendees are invited to media day, can I just pay the $50 and not attend Feb 20, but still come for media day?

Last year only 1 in 6 attendees (plus 1 guest each) got to go to media day. It was a random drawing of those in attendance. But, as stated above, benefits of the past are not a guarantee for what's to come in the future. I don't think anyone even knew about it until the day of the event anyway.

With the open nature of the charity event on Thursday and the Season Pass Preview on Friday, I would just plan on going to one of those. Thursday will be the earliest anyone gets to ride anyway, so might as well just figure on participating in that charity event.

Who gives the tour? Is it someone different for each group?

A different CP employee for each group.

There are countless CP staff that give up their entire Saturday of the off season to host this event. Saturdays are pretty precious to them as they work weekends from probably late March through early November. Considering how many staff volunteer their time to host Winter Chill Out, we should all give them a nice thank you on February 20th.

I think they even volunteer for the event, so they aren't getting paid. All the more reason to show appreciation for the staff.

Just reserved for 9:30. Haven't been to this event before but I did attend the GOCC holiday party back in 2012 when Gatekeeper was being built, had lots of fun, and am very much looking forward to this!

If I am not mistaken that everything is donated from the food to free give aways. Which I hope for everyones sake no one complains what is given to them. As for the staff they are volunteering their time, SO MAKE SURE YOU THANK ANYONE YOU SEE WORKING THIS GREAT EVENT!!!!!!!! Remember one main thing is this special event is for a good cause.

Signed up for the 930 for my daughter and I. This will be the fourth (I think ) year in a row going all the way back to when they were held in the breakers east. Last year was definitely my favorite with all the snow. Hard drive but I still use the pictures for a ton of profile pictures . Have a stunning one of the Gemini covered in snow that could be a pic.

Didn't get to go to the rougaroo media day but did get to go to the gatekeeper one. One of the best cedar point experiences ever for me and my daughter. Nothing like getting you first ride on a new coaster at something like 4 or 5 in the morning. I think we rode it like 15 times. Got to a point that we had to stop cause I almost started blacking out on the bottem of the big loop. In addition we had full run of the park ( though just a couple rides were open) and it was amazing to walk through the back of the park just me and her. Plus free auntie annes while they were training

^ Burky, I'll see you there! I just signed up for the 9:30 group just a few minutes ago.

I'm also in the 9:30. We tried to sign up for the 10:00 group, but couldn't get past the calendar screen. I assume that one is full.
