Simply The Best! Cedar Point Earns Top Spot in Annual Golden Ticket Awards; Park Dominates Top Steel Roller Coaster List

SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2006 – Cedar Point amusement park/resort, known around the globe as the worldwide leader in roller coasters, was recently voted the “Best Amusement Park in the World” by Amusement Today’s panel of experts in the newspaper’s annual Golden Ticket Awards. This is the ninth consecutive year that Cedar Point has taken home the top spot.

The Golden Ticket Awards are presented to the “best of the best” in the amusement industry by Amusement Today, the Arlington, Texas-based publication that reports on amusement and waterpark news.

Several of Cedar Point’s roller coasters placed highly in the “Best Steel Roller Coaster in the World” category. Millennium Force, Cedar Point’s 310-foot screamer, received the No. 2 ranking, the Magnum XL-200 came in at No. 3, while Top Thrill Dragster was voted No. 10 and the Raptor inverted coaster was No. 14, making Cedar Point the only park with four coasters in the top 15.

“We thank the readers of Amusement Today for ranking Cedar Point so highly,” said John Hildebrandt, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “These awards mean a great deal to our staff, who are out on the midway every day making our guests happy.”

Cedar Point was also voted No. 1 in the “Best Capacity” category, which measures how effectively and efficiently guests flow through queue lines. This is the seventh year that Cedar Point has won the “Best Capacity” award. Cedar Point also ranked highly in the “Friendliest Employees” (No. 3) and “Best Outdoor Night Show Production” (No. 4) categories.
