SANDUSKY - Cedar Point enthusiasts will have a good reason to spend a little more on season passes next summer.

Parent company Cedar Fair announced Monday season passes will go on sale Friday for a discounted prices until Nov. 15.

The new MAXX pass for $125 -- ages 3-61, 48 inches and taller -- will be valid for unlimited visits to Sandusky's Cedar Point and the 11 other Cedar Fair ride parks, including Paramount's Kings Island, Cincinnati, and Geauga Lake in Aurora, Ohio, which Cedar Fair bought in 2004.

Cedar Fair acquired the five Paramount Parks earlier this summer, but did not change its season passholder structure.

Last year, people who bought Cedar Point passes for $99.95 had unlimited admission into all Cedar Fair parks, excluding Geauga Lake unless they bought the two-park passes.

This year, a Cedar Point-only season pass is $94.95. Cedar Point no longer has a Cedar Point and Soak City combo pass because they would be so close in price to the new MAXX pass.

"It's really good for people in Ohio that have so many Cedar Fair parks that are close," said park spokesman Bryan Edwards.

For $149.95, the new MAXX Plus Pass includes unlimited admission into separately priced waterparks, including Soak City at Cedar Point. A Junior MAXX Plus Pass, ages 3-61, under 48 inches; and a senior pass, 62-older, is $79.95.

Carole Sanderson, past president of American Coaster Enthusiasts, said the MAXX pass will be popular among the 2,000 ACE members in this region. ACE has about 8,000 members nationwide.

But coaster enthusiasts would like to see a parking pass deal as well, Sanderson said.

Edwards said passholders will have to buy separate parking passes for each park. For instance, season passholders can buy a Cedar Point parking pass for $50.

"I know that people are excited about the MAXX pass because it's a great value," Sanderson said.
