Cedar Point Press Release
SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2006 – Guests at Cedar Point will have one more huge entertainment option to enjoy when they visit the park this Saturday, Sept. 30.
Add college football to the list of “must see” things to do during HalloWeekends when the park will broadcast the Ohio State vs. Iowa football game on Saturday night on the giant outdoor screen that the “Hot Summer Lights” evening extravaganza was shown on during the summer. The game matches two undefeated teams. The Ohio State Buckeyes are 3-0 and ranked No. 1 in the country, while Iowa, 4-0, is ranked 13th. Kickoff is 8 p.m.
Located between the Iron Dragon and WildCat roller coasters, the outdoor screen is 50 feet tall and 72 feet wide. For added enjoyment, refreshments such as quarter-pound hot dogs, potato chips and soft drinks can be purchased nearby.
This is the first time the park has broadcast a football game or any other televised event on the outdoor screen.
“Watching Ohio State football with hundreds of Buckeye fans is nothing less than exciting,” said Tim Walsh, Cedar Point’s director of marketing. “Combine that with our rides, roller coasters and the HalloWeekends’ attractions and activities and everyone has a great day!”
Besides the giant screen on the midway, football fans will also be able to watch games throughout the day at the Game Day Grille, located by the Blue Streak roller coaster, and at Donut Time, on the main midway near the front of the park.
