SANDUSKY - A day at Cedar Point will cost a little more next summer, but still not as much as a few years ago.
The price of a regular one-day admission will be $41.95, compared to $39.95 this summer, down $5 from the 2005 price of $44.95.Junior and senior tickets will go from $9.95 to $11.95. Previously, they had been $24.95. Children age 2 or younger are still free.
Prices were increased slightly for a variety reasons, including the new roller coaster Maverick opening at Cedar Point next year. The Starlight ticket is still $24.95.
"We felt we were a little underpriced; it's a very small increase -- it is still cheaper than it was two years ago," park spokesman Bryan Edwards said.
The prices were reduced for 2006 to bring guests back to the park.
It was the first time since implementing a pay-one-price ticket program in 1970, the price of a regular one-day admission ticket had decreased.
Edwards didn't have the final figure for attendance this year, but "we hope more saw it was a lower price."
Food prices -- also lowered for the 2005 season -- haven't been announced for next year. Edwards said cotton candy for 25 cents went over well.
On a same-park basis -- counting parks operating as Cedar Fair parks last year, including Cedar Point -- Cedar Fair entertained 7.2 million visitors in the third quarter, about 51,000 fewer than the same period last year.
Excluding the acquired parks, attendance and average in-park per capita spending through October both remained essentially unchanged on a comparable basis versus 2005, at 12 million visits, and per capita of $37.97.
Other 2007 price announcements, include $69.95 for a Ride &Slide two-day ticket; $29.95 for two-day junior and senior tickets; $31 for military members; $10 for daily parking; and $15 for over-sized vehicle parking.
