Cedar Point Press Release
SANDUSKY, Ohio – The weather outside is frightful, but inside it’s so delightful … at Cedar Point’s Castaway Bay indoor waterpark resort. To celebrate the Christmas season, the popular year-round family vacation destination has been transformed into a Caribbean-themed holiday oasis with special activities and events through New Year’s Day.
Highlighting the festivities at Castaway Bay is “The Parrots Who Stole Christmas,” a new live show performed on Friday and Saturday nights in the resort’s lobby. “The Parrots Who Stole Christmas” is the story of two malcontent parrot puppets who scheme to kidnap Mrs. Claus and sabotage her sleigh. It is only with the help of kids at Castaway Bay, and a little Christmas spirit, that saves Mrs. Claus and teaches the parrots the true meaning of Christmas. The show’s ending will leave the audience in awe as it appears to snow inside the lobby!
“The Parrots Who Stole Christmas” will be performed on Friday nights at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Saturday nights at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. now through Dec. 23, plus three special performances on Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
To help guests get in the holiday spirit, specially designed Christmas decorations are displayed throughout the resort, including tropical-themed Christmas trees and a snowman made from sand! For more Christmas cheer, everyone’s favorite beagle, Snoopy, and the rest of the PEANUTS characters will lead guests in Christmas caroling in the lobby on Friday and Saturday evenings.
For the holidays, Castaway Bay is also offering some special activities for younger guests. Kids will delight in the nightly entertainment at the all-new Club Castaway that presents the Charlie Brown Christmas movie and holiday stories told by Sally Brown.
At the Camp Castaway craft and activity center, kids have the opportunity to make holiday gifts. It also hosts a Holiday Coloring Contest where the winning entry will win an exclusive prize pack and will have their entry displayed on the Castaway Bay Web site.
Another special guest, Santa Claus, makes special daily appearances in the resort’s lobby. Children also have the opportunity to hand deliver their wish list to Santa or drop it in Santa’s Polar Express mailbox.
Castaway Bay will be the perfect place for families to ring in the New Year. Kids will enjoy creating their own party hats and trail mix for the big celebration. A Dance Party will be held at Club Castaway from 10-11:30 p.m. In the waterpark, special games will be held from 9-10 p.m. in Creature Cove. For late night revelers, the popular local band The CoCoBeanos will be performing live at Castaway Bay on New Year’s Eve from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Balloons will fill the air at midnight as The CoCoBeanos rock guests into the New Year.
Castaway Bay is also offering special overnight packages until Jan. 18, 2007. The Paradise Package offers select rooms for only $129 per night or $199 for two nights, plus tax, complete with passes to the waterpark. (Some blackout dates and restrictions apply.)
Featuring 237 hotel rooms and suites, including family-oriented units, a 38,000-square-foot indoor waterpark loaded with water activities for all ages, a day spa, fitness center, state-of-the-art arcade, restaurants, retail shops, Castaway Bay is a tropical getaway that the entire family will enjoy.
