SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2007 – Guests at Cedar Point amusement park/resort will find more to see and do during their visit to the 364-acre thrill-seeker’s paradise. This summer, Cedar Point has several recipes for 100-percent pure family fun! Here are just a few ideas to fill the family planner:

MAVERICK – The riders have spoken…and it’s a hit! New for 2007 is Maverick, Cedar Point’s 17th roller coaster, more coasters than any park in the world. The $21 million steel coaster features a 105-foot-tall lift hill, a 100-foot first-hill drop at an amazing 95-degree angle, the first-ever Twisted Horseshoe Roll inversion and an exciting launch through a 400-foot-long tunnel at speeds of 70 mph!

SNOOPY’S SUMMER VACATION – The ice-skating fun is back! Join Snoopy™ and his pals as they enjoy all types of summer fun – visiting the beach, celebrating Independence Day, camping and more. The PEANUTS™ gang and talented skaters perform intricate ice-skating routines and interact with the audience in this family-friendly show at the Good Time Theatre.

HOT SUMMER LIGHTS – Back for its second season, it’s Cedar Point’s nightly sensory experience featuring music, video, light and pyrotechnics. Hot Summer Lights includes “FireWater,” a special effect that sends flames of fire 25 feet into the air! Hot Summer Lights is shown nightly at 10 p.m. (weather permitting).

On Wednesday, July 4th, Cedar Point will be open to midnight. Other special events at the park during the Fourth of July holiday include:

JOHNSONVILLE BIG TASTE GRILL – Weighing in at more than 53,000 lbs. and extending to a length of 65 feet, the Johnsonville Big Taste Grill is one of the largest grills in the world! The grill has the capacity to cook more than 750 brats at a time – approximately 2,500 per hour – and can accommodate more than 12 “grillmasters.” The Big Taste Grill will be located near the Good Time Theatre. Special meal deals will be available. Visit the Johnsonville Big Taste Grill at Cedar Point from Saturday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 4.

NHRA DRIVERS – National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drivers Tony Pedregon and Larry Dixon will be in the park on Monday, July 2 to meet fans and to sign autographs from 1-2 p.m. near Top Thrill Dragster. Pedregon was a three-time winner in 2006, while Dixon has 38 victories and is currently ranked third in all-time career wins for drag racing.

FABULOUS FIREWORKS – No Independence Day celebration would be complete without an amazing fireworks display! The skies above Cedar Point will come alive with light at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4. The program will be presented by Zambelli Internationale, Inc., of New Castle, Pa., one of the oldest and largest firms in fireworks displays in America. On July 4, Hot Summer Lights will be shown at 11 p.m. (In case of inclement weather, the July 4th fireworks display will be postponed until Thursday, July 5 at 10 p.m.)

Another important component of Cedar Point’s unmatched entertainment package is the park’s award-winning shows. Guests should add these lively musicals to their list of things to do during their visit to the park:

THE MISADVENTURES OF MOLLY AND MAVERICK – This all-new show in the Palace Theatre mixes mistaken identities, music, romance, can-can girls and more. After a ride on Maverick, guests can take a break and watch the musical mayhem that unfolds in the wild, Wild West.

DAZZLE BEYOND DIVINE – The cast of the Centennial Theatre sings their hearts out showcasing some of the biggest musical moments. Featuring songs such as “Dreamgirls,” “Fever,” and “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend,” Dazzle Beyond Divine will live up to its name as these hits are complemented with a variety of dance styles.

ROCK ‘N COUNTRY – The best of rock ’n’ roll and country music come together in an action-packed show complete with a live band and talented singers. Located in the Red Garter Saloon on the Frontier Trail, guests can enjoy guitar, drums, keyboards and high-energy dancing and singing.
