Cedar Point Press Release

SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2007 – With Cedar Point’s 11th annual HalloWeekends event just four weeks away, crews are working hard to put the finishing touches on its all-new attraction, a family-friendly parade. The Monster Midway Invasion Celebration Parade is a first for the Halloween event voted the “Best Seasonal Event” for the second consecutive year by the readers of Theme Parks Magazine.

Featuring more than 70 characters, six colorfully themed floats (including The Great Pumpkin float), a custom-designed hearse, gypsies, a giant inflatable spider, a coffin roadster and other surprises, the parade will entertain guests along its route on the Main Midway, Top Thrill Dragster Midway and Gemini Midway. The parade will begin at 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays (weather permitting).

“This is one of the most intense projects we’ve ever worked on,” said John Taylor, Cedar Point’s director of graphic services and HalloWeekends’ Master of Madness. “All the elements of the parade were designed and organized from scratch. Since we’re focusing on not-so-scary features, it’s going to be a great spectacle for the whole family.”

Kids will have an exciting opportunity to join in the parade each weekend! The winners of the Kids Costume Contest (Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.) will get to test their “parade wave” when they are offered a seat on one of the decorated parade vehicles.

In addition to the new Monster Midway Invasion Celebration, HalloWeekends boasts three haunted houses, four outdoor haunted walk-through attractions, themed live shows, family-friendly Midway Monsters, unique characters, events just for kids, two magicians and seasonal decorations throughout the park – all included with admission.

Guests will have an extra weekend to scream and howl in 2007. HalloWeekends has been extended to seven weekends from six in 2006 and will begin a weekend earlier than last year.

The 11th annual HalloWeekends will run Friday nights (6 p.m. to midnight with limited ride availability, Camp Spooky will also not be open.); Saturdays (noon to midnight); and Sundays (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) Sept. 14 through Oct. 28, 2007. On Sunday, Oct. 7, park hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Excluding Sunday, Oct. 7, the haunted outdoor walk-through attractions will be closed on Sundays.

Prior to HalloWeekends, Cedar Point will be open daily through Labor Day, Sept. 3. The park will also reopen for one Bonus Weekend, Sept. 7-9. The operating hours will be 6-11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 (Some rides and attractions will not be in operation.); while the whole park will be open from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9.
