Cedar Point Press Release

Cedar Point’s Not-So-Scary Parade Is Fun For The Whole Family

SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2007 – Ghouls, goblins and haunted scenes aren’t the only “things” popping up at Cedar Point’s 11th annual HalloWeekends event! Visiting souls of all ages will enjoy the brand-new Monster Midway Invasion Celebration Parade – a spectacle of friendly frights along the park’s midways.

Featuring six larger-than-life floats, over 70 costumed characters, a decorated hearse, cheerleaders and more, the Monster Midway Invasion Celebration snakes down Cedar Point’s Main Midway, Top Thrill Dragster Midway and Gemini Midway every Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m. (weather permitting).

Guests will enjoy floats decorated to represent childhood fears – in a comical way. The “closet monster” float features a giant 20-foot-tall inflatable monster with toys and other items spilling out of a closet while the “monster under the bed” float showcases another 20-foot-tall inflatable monster that you might find if you take a look beneath your sleeping quarters. The two inflatables were designed and created exclusively for Cedar Point.

Other floats in the parade include the “rock monster” – an animated, groaning pile of rocks with red eyes that raises its arms and turns its head at guests as it goes by, and the “spider” float – another giant inflatable creature that rests on a pile of rocks and dirt. Guests will recognize popular PEANUTS (TM) characters on the “Great Pumpkin” float featuring Sally and Linus, and the “Grand Marshal” float at the end of the parade featuring the world’s most famous beagle, Snoopy.

Accompanying the floats are several costumed characters including walking T-shirts, gypsies, friendly monsters, giant skeletons and other fun creatures.

The Monster Midway Invasion Celebration Parade is the newest attraction at Cedar Point’s 11th annual HalloWeekends, a seven-weekend festival of fun and fright. With not-so-scary fun for the little ones, like the Kids’ Costume Contest, Magical House on Boo Hill and Camp Spooky, and in-your-face frights at night for the brave at heart, there’s something for everyone.

HalloWeekends runs Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 28. For more information about HalloWeekends, guests can visit halloweekends.cedarpoint.com or call 419.627.2350.
