CP exec: We're suing Sandusky

Cedar Point's massive main parking lot covers 64 acres.
The Sandusky Register reports that Cedar Fair CEO Dick Kinzel has confirmed plans for the company to sue the city of Sandusky for imposing an 8 percent paid parking tax. Kinzel told the Register the company will file a lawsuit in federal court within a few months, alleging that the city tax is "unconstitutional" because it unfairly targets one business.

Referring to the city's property, bed, and income taxes, Kinzel said "I would never fight a broad-base tax." He added that Cedar Point has been "a good corporate citizen," employing its own police force and maintaining its own roads, and the city needs to "adjust spending when revenue isn't coming in."

The Sandusky City Commission passed an 8 percent paid-parking tax in April. Since Cedar Point is the only Sandusky business that charges for parking, it is the only business affected.
