Tuesday, 21 April 2009

The Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross, in cooperation with Cedar Point, is holding an auction for those who want to be a First Anniversary Rider on the park's Magnum XL-200 roller coaster.

The Red Cross is auctioning seats on Magnum XL-200 to the 36 highest bidders, with bids starting at $75. A winning bid will include a commemorative t-shirt, the first two rides of the day on Magnum XL-200, a commemorative group photo, lunch at the Breakers East Conference Room, and a personally engraved commemorative medallion.

Magnum XL-200 is a traditional "out and back" coaster that features 5,106 feet of track that winds its way over Soak City and along the Lake Erie shoreline, giving riders an unparalleled view of the lake and the Cedar Point skyline. In 2007, the Magnum XL-200 was voted No. 5 in the "Best Steel Roller Coaster in the World" category in a poll conducted by Amusement Today.

The Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross is accepting Magnum XL-200 bids starting Aprill 22 through 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13. For more information on how to place a bid, please log on to the Red Cross Web site or call 419.626.1641, or 800.589.2286 (toll-free in Ohio). Bids will also be accepted by fax at 419.626.9244 or via e-mail through the Red Cross Web site.
