Cedar Point and Northwest Ohio’s Make-A-Wish Foundation to host Walk for Wishes on Oct. 10
Proceeds from walk will help grant wishes of local children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions
Cedar Point Press ReleaseSANDUSKY, Ohio – Cedar Point and Northwest Ohio’s Make-A-Wish Foundation will host the first annual Walk for Wishes event at the amusement park/resort in Sandusky on Saturday, Oct. 10.
All proceeds from the walk will help grant the wishes of local children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions.
The Walk for Wishes is a non-competitive three-mile walk in which participants can walk individually or form a team. The walk will take place from 8:30–10:30 a.m. and will follow the Cedar Point boardwalk to the Sandcastle Suites all-suites hotel and back to the park’s main gate. Check-in will be held at Cedar Point’s front gate from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
Following the walk, there will be a post-event celebration with food and entertainment.
Parking will be free for all participants. Plus, participants will also receive vouchers that can be redeemed for discounted admission to the park on Saturday or Sunday, Oct. 10-11.
There is a $10 registration fee for individuals and $15 for families of five or less. There will be an additional fee of $5 per person for families with more than five members. Wish children and their families can walk for free. All participants who raise at least $20 will receive a Walk for Wishes T-shirt. Each Wish child will also receive a Walk for Wishes T-shirt and a special gift, courtesy of Cedar Point.

To avoid lines on walk day and check in early, walkers can visit Panera Bread at 4050 Talmadge Road, Toledo, on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 4-7 p.m.; or Panera Bread at 5203 Milan Road/Route 250, Sandusky, on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 4-7 p.m. to turn in pledges and receive their T-shirt for those who qualify.
Since 1984, Northwest Ohio’s Make-A-Wish Foundation has fulfilled more than 1,100 wishes and plans on granting 78 wishes this year. These wishes give renewed strength, hope and joy to the Wish children and their parents.
On Walk Weekend, Cedar Point will be holding its annual HalloWeekends festival that combines the thrills and excitement of Cedar Point’s rides and roller coasters with the fun and frights of Halloween. There are haunted houses and themed outdoor scare zones for adults and a variety of entertainment for young families that includes the Monster Midway Invasion Celebration parade, the Magical House on Boo Hill, the Hay Bale Maze and Planet Spooky and Camp Spooky children’s areas.
HalloWeekends at Cedar Point will be held Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 1. Cedar Point will be open 6 p.m. to midnight on Friday nights (only a portion of the park is open); noon to midnight on Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. On Sunday, Oct. 11, the park will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Excluding Sunday, Oct. 11, the outdoor scare zones will be closed on Sundays.
