Cedar Point Press ReleaseSANDUSKY, Ohio, Nov. 18 -- With Thanksgiving only week away, Castaway Bay, Cedar Point's year-round indoor waterpark resort, has the perfect recipe for the holidays.
Start with big splashes, warm temperatures and hugs from Snoopy and mix in Christmas caroling, tree-decorating and visits from Santa to make a fun and festive family getaway for this holiday season. Serves four or more people.
Money-saving packages, a key ingredient for every family trip, are also available. Castaway Bay offers reduced rates on two-night stays and the Fun Times Family Package that includes overnight accommodations, admission to the waterpark, a family pizza meal and family photo with a PEANUTS character all for one low price.
Add heaping amounts of fun inside Castaway Bay's 38,000-square-foot indoor waterpark that has a variety of attractions ranging from the Rendezvous Run water coaster, the 100,000-gallon Castaway Bay Wave Pool and an indoor/outdoor whirlpool spa to the Lookout Lagoon Family Funhouse and Creature Cove, an 80,000-gallon activity pool with water basketball, a cargo net climb and serpents to climb on. For the little ones, Toddler's Tide Pool is an ideal location to splash and slide. And even though it is winter outside, the waterpark is a balmy 80 degrees each and every day.
To make it even sweeter, a huge arcade that has games for every player is located next to the waterpark. Other amenities include a fitness center and The Spa at Castaway Bay that offers massages, facials, waxings and manicures and pedicures. There's also the relaxing atmosphere of Woody's Chart Room that features a 50-inch LCD TV, three other TVs and plenty of comfortable furniture.
In between visits to the waterpark, Castaway Bay also has activity centers that will provide an assortment of fun things to do. At Camp Castaway, younger children will be able to enter coloring contests, decorate a Christmas stocking or just play games or read a book. Club Castaway's activity list includes decorating cookies, Caroling Karaoke and a nighttime dance party.
For added spice, Castaway Bay also has some special visitors. Snoopy and his friends are in the lobby every morning from 8 a.m. to noon. Plus, beginning Friday, Nov. 27, Santa will visit Castaway Bay to meet all the children every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 13 and every day Friday through Wednesday, Dec. 18-23.
With 237 suites that have remote-control televisions, microwave, coffee-maker and mini-refrigerator, Castaway Bay can accommodate families of all sizes. Near the resort's lobby are two different gift shops and three eateries, while a fourth, T.G.I. Fridays, is just down the hallway. On Thanksgiving, a holiday buffet with glazed ham, roast turkey, stuffing, salad bar, chicken fingers, mac and cheese and assorted cakes, pies and cookies will be served from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
